They must, huh, since I can't use my points for certain things.

I was just curious.

Thanks

Yes, they will know if a contract was purchased resale, and whether an add-on was purchased direct or via resale.

DVD/DVC/MS has a complete history of all contracts. Your Guide also is notified of any resale activity on your account.

If I bought resale, do I still have a "guide"? I have to say, it feels like I'm not getting communication from DVC and I worry it's because I have bought resale. I have never received any of the emails I've read about, and last week when we toured the Aulani model at SSR they were surprised I hadn't received the member point chart brochure via mail. Is it possible I'm missing things because I bought resale?

We bought resale and still get mail from DVC. As for emails, you may want to find out what email address that DVC has for you.

I thought we didn't get the emails either...turns out hubby was getting them the whole time.

Yes you have a Guide and yes you should be receiving info from the DVC.

I found out that info from DVD isn't automatically sent to everyone. Some items are reserved for direct buy customers. The DVC bags didn't get sent to resale buyers and either were the hard bound planner books. DVD has a prospect tracking system that has us each classified based on what we own, where we bought from, and our potential for buying direct. The Guides can't possibly contact each and every member and they don't want to send out 400,000 emails. My guess is that they spend their time on active prospects and leave the other members alone.

How you are allowed to use your points shouldnt be affected by buying resale though. The differences are small things like bags, and DVD's and such.

Not anymore. DVC Points purchased resale after March 21, 2011 may no longer be used for trades to the Disney Collection (including the cruise), Adventures by Disney, and other Disney operated venues.
