Hi. I've seen a post about MGM only being about a half day park to tour and also a friend left after half a day. Can I have your opinions on this? Thanks in advance. :teeth:

We are 'hoppers' and it does not take us a full day. I would look at the map of it and decide what you want to see. It is pretty quick for the average person.

It's a half day park for us. We do Rockin' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Star Wars, and the Movie Ride, and that's it for rides for us.

Depends on how many of the attractions you are interested in seeing. If you are going to see Fantasmic (which I recommend) and RnR and TOT plus maybe another show or 2, I would recommend going to a different park for the first part of the day & then hopping to MGM. We arrived at 1pm, went on RnR 2 times, TOT 2 times, saw Indiana Jones, walked around the whole park, went on Star Tours, walked through the Walt Disney exhibit (very nice), saw Beauty & the Beast, & Fantasmic. We did not have to rush.

Of course, this was in October. Might not be the same at more crowded times.

Depends upon what you like. If it's rides then it's not an all day park; but if it's shows then it's a full day, and perhaps more if you like rides AND shows.. (Last tme I counted, the Studios had four rides and ten shows.)

Enjoy.

as one poster already said it depends on what you want to do. doing all the attractions will be more than a half day. just a few major ones and a show or two will most likely have you done by lunch easily. are there kids involved that will want to see little mermaid, beauty and the beast. do you want to see fantasmic(highly recommended). to see mgm in a more leisurely manner a whole day should be planned. if you are going to hit a few major attractions then yes you can do it in a half day or less

All depends on the shows! The rides can be done in a few hours. Last year our Friday morning at MGM looked like this

9:00 am--Great Movie Ride
10:00 am--Muppet Vision 3D
10:30--Star Tours
11:00--ToT
11:15--RNR
11:30--Studio Backlot
12:30--Over to MK

Granted we had no lines on any of the 5 rides. This year we've tossed on a 12:15 ADR at Sci-Fi. Depending on what gets done it'll be either over to AK or EPCOT for ther rest of the day!

If it's a first-time trip to MGM, allocate a full day. It's easy for us Disney vets to say "half-day" when we've already seen everything and know what we like and don't like. We can skip through it easily in half a day.

Not necessarily so with a first-timer.

And DEFINITELY make plans to see Fantasmic at the end of the day. Even though I've been to MGM probably a dozen+ times, I've never seen it until this past weekend. It's unreal. It's awesome. Not to be missed. It elevated MGM up a notch or two in my book after finally seeing it.

Edit: This being said, the MGM day is probably a day I'd sleep in and eat a nice, late breakfast at the resort if I wanted to, even if I were a first-time visitor to the park. You can fill up a whole day there, but it's the one park you can really feel comfortable getting relatively late start for and not miss a whole lot.

It's a full day if you wish to experience all the shows. LMA, B&tB, and Indiana Jones are are more than a half hour long, and between seating and exiting there is three hours right there.

Add a sit-down meal, repeat rides on RnR and ToT, then GMR, Star Tours, Muppets, the Backlot Tour, the Little Mermaid Show, One Man's Dream, the Animation Tour...you can easily spend a whole day.

After you've been there a few times, it's easier to spend a half day if you skip a lot and just do the "highlights", but I still enjoy going to the shows and such so I usually spend several 1/2 days there.

We found MGM to be kind of boring. My 19 year old doesn't like thrill rides, so we didn't do the Tower or the Coaster. And, the shows we wanted to see were always at the same time! I enjoyed the rides, but to her, they were all "History". Hard to believe that Star Wars is History... :rotfl:

We left feeling like we didn't get to see things we wanted to see, yet like we had wasted a lot of time waiting for Fastasmic to start. It was awesome, but I'm not sure it was worth the time. We felt like we could have used more time in AK or in Epcot, so I wished we had skipped MGM altogether!

Depends on who you are, too. Little kids would love a bunch of MGM, I think.
