Has a VP nominee ever been the campaign manager for the Presidential nominee? I've never heard of this. Is this an old practice? Who has done this recently? Interesting.

But they are supposed to be working together and it doesn't seem that they are at all, if Palin doesn't know what Mccain is going to do for this country that should be a red flag that goes up.

She should at least have been told or look it up online, I mean if we can look up his platform shouldn't she be able to do the same thing?

I'm not saying she should manage the campaign. I'm saying that instead of suspending his campaign, he could have Palin campaign on his behalf. She could do all the scheduled interviews, the appearances, stuff like that. Just while he's in Washington "working" on the bailout.

McCain's current campaign manager is fine, the economic crisis doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. Here is a picture of McCain's campaign staff laughing it up yesterday as their candidate was getting ready to suspend the campaign. I guess they don't take the economic situation as seriuously as McCain does.

So, you don't think McCain should have Palin out on the trail because he's off saving the free world's economy (heck, make the entire world's economy) in Washington? Wait a minute, is he actually IN Washington now?? What does putting on his Superman suit have to do with her? Because she's his 'soul mate' and they cannot be parted?

I think a more credible comparison to what Steve said would be "If Senator Obama halted his campaign (ha, never happen - he can multi-task) shouldn't he ask Senator Biden to continue to campaign?" Senator Biden could fly into Washington in time to vote himself. Now that 'follows'!

Thanks for your kind wishes, but you are avoiding the issue. McCain's campaign people don't look like their candidate is suspending the campaign because of a national crisis. They look like it's any other day. No somber faces...only smiles. Why aren't they looking more serious? Because McCain's suspension of the campaign is not serious. It's a ploy, a con. We've been lied to. We've been had. We've been hoodwinked. Bamboozled. We've had the wool pulled over our eyes.

Anyway, that's a separate issue. The issue of this thread is: why doesn't McCain allow Palin to take over campaigning?

But you're not offering any other explanation. If you think it's a fallacy, fine. You have a right to your opinion, whether or not it is accurate. At least address the issue.

It is the duty of the VP to take the Pres' place when necessary. Has McCain asked Palin to take his place? No. The question you must answer: WHY???
