Does Mardi Gras make the parks crowded?

I thought I heard that somewhere. But on the Unofficial Guide's chart, the attendence is low during that period. Thanks.

I know a lot of people go at this time. Mardi Gras this year is the last week in February this year (Feb 28th). Just in case you want to steer clear!

DD and I will be there during that time. It will be our first time to go during Mardi Gras, we are from Texas, but she is now going to college at LSU, so it is a change for us for her to be out of school then! I hope the crowds are manageable, but I am figuring it will be better than the Summer months anyway! :cool1:

We will also be there for the first time during Mardi Gras. I hope the weather is nice, summer is too hot for me. According to touringplans.com the unofficial guide crowd level for the week have gone up. I only hope it's not too bad. :tink:

A lot of people from Louisiana usually go the week of Mardi Gras because it's a school holiday here. I personally know of 3 families going that week. I don't think it will be as bad as during Summer, though.

We have never noticed a large difference in crowds during Mardi Gras. That is usually a quieter time of year at Disney.

I think President's Week vacationers have a bigger influence on crowds than Mardi Gras. Most MG escapees will be arriving on the tail end of President's Week (Feb 25th), so that weekend will be busy.

Hoping the crowd levels are not too crazy - I know of about 300 people taking advantage of the MG holiday (and we only account for 4!)

This will be my 6th Mardi Gras trip and it does't effect the parks that I can tell. This year Mardi Gras will be the week after Presidents week so there will be some overflow from that.

Mardi Gras has always been a good time to go for me. Last year's SuperBowl in Jacksonville fell on Mardi Gras week and there were more people there for the Superbowl than Mardi Gras. :thumbsup2

we went last year at MG, and are going again this year. Honestly, with Disney gaining popularity by the minute, I don't know of any time that it isn't busy (school days aside). We've been Thanksgiving, the middle of summer, and find that MG is the best time. Good weather, and good crowds. Remember, you do want some crowds, or the parks can close as early as 6 or 7pm. Sunday night at MK, they are open until 10pm, with EMH going until 1am - can't wait for that!

I agree about the SuperBowl - I think that they definitely added to the crowds last year.

We will be there for Mardi Gras this year also. It will be our second time going during that time. During the last Mardi Gras trip (which also fell the last week of February) we found the crowds to be lighter than expected. I believe this year will be a bit busier but still nothing like summertime.
