Does Magical Express take your luggage to the resort for you?

I was under the impression Disney parted ways with BAGS because a. the service isn't cheap on a per guest basis and b. Covid gave them a good chance to break the relationship without getting burned on social media. It truly was a luxurious perk for onsite stays.

I mean the "bad press" from not having BAGS has been diminished because people don't find out until they come to visit.

I don’t see anywhere in that article that says they “backed out” of the Disney contract - source?

I don’t suggest Disney would ever want to self provide such a service, for the reasons you cite, not to mention the myriad of complications with airline/TSA regulations and other rules regarding luggage handling.

The contract thing was from a paywalled article in Orlando Business Journal. It's a little weird that it is mentioned nowhere else in all the coverage, but...

And the thing about spin up was not aimed at you. Another user said "Disney could do it themselves." And truly, not so easy.

Bags Inc is still in business. Disney used Covid as a reason to ditch a variety of perks.

My understanding is Bags not only provided RAC but also valet and bell services. Sounds like a contract issue.
Disney is dropping DME bus service
Mears is in business

If Disney wanted to keep DME they could negotiate with Mears. If Disney wanted RAC they could negotiate with Bags Inc

Unfortunately this costs money, that's going in the wrong direction with the current management so will likely never happen.

Agree. My post was in response to posters who said Bags went out of business and others who implied Bags lost interest in dealing with Disney.

Edited to add There is at least one other company offering remote airline check in. The decision to eliminate all.DME services was made by Disney

I work as a tour operator. If the transfer sevice I use in, say, Ushuia for our Jan/Feb Antarctica departures went out of business or ended contract, I would just find another company to provide the service long before telling our clients that they had to collect their own luggage. I dont know Disneys situation for ending the bag service, but I'm guessing it saved them money, yet their prices have increased.
