Does it stay straight?

Hello,

I know there are always threas on hair straightners etc.

But my question is once you straighten your hair does it stay straight with the florida humidity?

Any tips as my hair goes frizzy very easily

I can sympathise with the frizzy hair and am dependant on my straighteners! I was last at WDW in October last year and never had totally straight hair. Firstly they didn't heat up very well (due to different voltage), so it was never that straight to begin with and the humidity does not help. I ended up tying it back most of the time.

My hair never stays straight when I've straightened it when I'm holiday, so I tend to just wash it and leave it to dry naturally. It's even worse in the Summer as with all the mist thingy's going off, after a few minutes anywhere slightly damp - then I turn into a member of the Hair Bear Bunch (for all you oldies out there)

I brought the new GHD MK4 a couple of weeks ago (much to DH disgust) and they are fantastic. They are multi voltage so you would not have any trouble heating them up in the US. As for something to keep the frizz down I can recomment Fashionista smoth and shine from the Catwalk Range by TIGI. So far it has done the trick for me over the past couple of weeks but the tropical heat in Orlando is a different scale. I will be going to my hairdressers in 2 weeks and will ask what product they would recommend to help cope with the heat and humiditiy.

If you do straighten your hair I cannot recommend the GHD MK 4 high enough

I find that my hair is fluffs up for the first day or so, but then settles down.

Another from me ........ have always had to tie my wavy hair back when holidaying in the States, I'm afraid. The GHDs won't touch my hair when we're there. But wavy is in this year !

too humid...
i go natural (my hair that is)...
to keep the friz in check, i use the hair conditioners that don't have to be washed out....styling creams or whatever they're called....
it keeps everything just curly, but not frizzy....

Hi all

My second DD and I have curly hair which we like to straighten. Took our very good GDHs with us this year to Orlando. I gave up, I'd leave the villa with straight hair, get to a park and by lunch time I was wavy.

In the end I washed it and let it dry curly, tied it up and forgot about it. My DD tried all holiday to have straight hair but didn't go a full day without it curling up.

My daughter gives up too and ties her hair back, if fact this year I said don't bother taking them but she did and they sat in the suitcase all holiday

I've bought the new GHD'S Hopefully they will work over there but tbh I always find it goes frizzy not long afterwards.
I've tried smoothing serums etc but it still goes wavy.
I have found though if you wash your hair the same day it's far worse but if you wash it the night before it's more manageable? if you get what I mean.
So I tend to wash my hair the night before,style it on the day.
And if you need a shower pop on a cap etc.

If anyone gets any good tips/advice please share.

i gave up straightening my hair years ago, but if your wavy/curly hair is so bothersome to you, have you tried the salon method of straightening your hair?.

here it's called the Japanese method, but i don't know if that's a universal term.....it takes about 4 hours for two stylists to do to your hair, and afterwards your hair is bone straight.....it looks just like japanese hair and no matter what you do to it, it won't curl or frizz or get wavy.....only the new hair growing in will have your natural curl....the hair, once treated will stay straight...
it's really quite amazing..you can jump into the pool, come out...shake out your hair and it's perfectly straight....no curl...no frizz...

i don't bother because i'm used to myself curly and i can't see changing now..
but i know lots of women who have used this method and it works....though it is expensive...

Nope, if you have wavy, curly hair then of course it will not stay straight. It is best to use a very good serum on your hair after washing/conditioning AND after blowdrying,(just before straightening) as this gives your hair an axtra barrier against getting damaged (although, if you constantly straighten your hair you are damaging it anyway ) just be sure not to use too much or it will look greasy

I always recommend tony and guy serum (boots stocks it) but my daughter loves Paul Mitchel super skinny serum (only available from certain salons) i have tried frizz ease but i hated it! Also i always wet my hair and smooth on some conditioner (leaving it in) before i go to the pool, this gives the hair an extra protection and you have a lovely smell as well!
(i got the conditioner tip from a stylist on DCL)
