Does it matter what month points renew?

My husband and I are thinking of purchasing a resale. We like to visit Disney every November. Should I be looking at a resale that has the points renew in December (for the 11-month window to book for a November stay)? Am I making sense? Thanks for any replies!

not exactly.

1) the UY month has NO relation to when you can book. none at all. you can book 11 months prior to travel regardless of UY month (i.e. when your points renew), so long as you will have pts available (banked, borrowed or current) for the dates you are traveling.

many people have that misunderstanding, but throw it out asap.

2) UY month only makes a difference if you have to cancel. if you never cancel, you will likely never have a moment's concern for what month it is that your pts renew.

2a) if you travel in november, december is about the worst UY month you could get. if you have to cancel your plans in september or october, you will already be past the banking window and risk losing those pts.

if you typically travel in november, you'd rather have a UY month prior to november, like sept or oct...

Thank you so much for the quick response.

It doesn't matter. We had a June user year and added on with a December one. If you want to book in November for Nov' 08, for example and had a June use year, you could still make the reservation 11 months in advance on points. The points are available to use in the current year, in this instance, starting in June.

In short, so long as the dates you want to stay are within the use year in which the points are available to use or borrow into, it doesn't matter.
