Does it cool down at night?

No, it does not cool down at night in the summer. At least not the way you are used to it cooling down. You won’t have the sun to contend with, but it’s still hot and humid in the evenings.

SoCal girl here, this will be our second May trip to WDW. It doesn't "cool down" like it does here but the sun not being out makes it much more pleasant at night.

Depending on our dinner plans we usually try to hang on until late afternoon, go back to the resort and shower/ change and head back out to the parks.

I always tell people 85 in Florida is NOT the same as 85 in California lol.

June - Sep in Florida are basically miserable. It starts to cool down a bit in Oct.

It's very different from CA. The sun will be gone and that will help tremendously, but it can be stifling humid at night in Orlando. It can also be breezy and cool, so you could get either. The good thing is that it won't cool down so significantly that you'll need a jacket. Makes it easier to pack lightly.

Thank you for all the responses! Happy the California people understood my question and know it wasn't as silly or obvious as it may seem :rotfl2:no need for Hubby and I to pack a long sleeve shirt or light sweater!

I’m from SoCal originally but live in FL now. While it does cool off a little once the sun goes down, the temperature won’t drop enough to need a sweatshirt or long pants in June.

Heading to WDW from California in June. Use the over 100 days here in CA but we get bit of a cool down at night. Does Florida do that or will it just be HOT all day and night?
Still shorts weather for sure in the evening and still quite warm...it's the humidity...but the sun not bearing down after dark so you aren't seeking shade as you would be in the daytime. June / July in Florida is HOT esp in Orlando. I grew up in S Florida near the beach and we at least got some breeze from ocean, none in Orlando.

Totally different from CA where it actually gets cool or even cold at night. IMO, nights in WDW become tolerable albeit quite warm. We often go swimming after dark in the summer and it is PLENTY warm. WDW can be cool at night in the later fall or winter time.

I don't think this is a silly question at all, and I'm a Floridian.

You've gotten some great advice here, OP, but I'd add to consider bringing an umbrella for shade. That and a hand-held fan (which I prefer to those neck-fans because you can move it wherever you want--I like to aim it down the front or up the back of my shirt from time to time) makes a WORLD of difference when you're out in the sun. Constant shade and a constant breeze is the only way I can do the parks in summer.

It's cooler in the sense the sense that the sun isn't beating down on you, but generally it's still pretty warm. It's the humidity and the mugginess that gets you. I've been living in GA for 5 years now, moved here from California, I lived there for 16 years and before that lived in NJ. I really thought I was prepared and knew what to expect living in the southeast but it's worse than I imagined. Be prepared for thunderstorms/rain at any point during the day or night. We have little hand held fans to help cool down.

I lived in California for several years. I miss those cool nights! You definitely will not need layers of any kind in June. Hot, hot, hot.
