Does it bother you when you read a negative thread about a restaurant that you really like, have never had a bad meal there, and you look forward to it each trip? It does me, so I'm just checking to see if I'm normal. :)

Doesn't bother me -- I figure that's why Disney provides so many varied restaurants, because everyone is not going to share the same tastes. There are restaurants people rave about that I don't care for at all -- I just figure it's different strokes for different folks! :)

Nope... doesn't bother me either. I would have missed out on some of my favorites if I listened to negative reviews. You will always here positive and negative opinions anywhere.

It doesn't matter to me. Although I will say a negative review from somone who I know thinks like me makes me think but will not sway me.

No it doesn't bother me either. Disney has a wide variety of restaurants, counter service restaurants, shops and carts to chose from because everyone is different.

Doesn't bother me. Everyone is different in what they like and expect from a restaurant or any other thing for that matter. I appreciate their opinion and information. Plus if someone doesn't like a place that I like, then more opportunity for a PS for me!!

It doesn't bother me if one of my favourites gets trashed - I assume it was an off night for that guest :)

It does bother me however, when I read bad reprots about somewhere I am thinking of trying

Then I try to read between the lines to see exactly what the concerns are.

It bothers me sometimes. Take Chef Mickey's for dinner as an example. We've had several very good meals for breakfast there and I thought it would be great for dinner our first night. You see, my niece wants to go to Disney so bad that she has literally asked just about every family member to take her to see Mickey. She knows we're taking a trip in six weeks, she just doesn't know where we're going (teehee). Anyway, I thought dinner our first night with Mickey would be great but most of the reviews are negative about this meal and I find myself second guessing about whether we should keep our ps or not.

I've also had the experience of trying a restaurant that others rave about ('Ohana for instance). I thought the food was downright nasty!!!! I loved the atmosphere and we had a nice view near a big window right in front of the castle for the fireworks so that made it worth the $25 per person it costed us right there but food-wise, if I never ever go back there in life, I won't be sorry.

As other posters have said, Disney has different restaurants to suit different tastes. There are people that don't like Olivia's at OKW but my family enjoyed our meals there very much and I look forward to eating there again on this trip. I am trying to learn to take the opinions of others with a grain of salt. If it's a place I'd like to try then I do and hopefully I'll like it. If it's a place the majority seem to rave about (Le Cellier - hated it) then I'll try it but won't go with such high expectations.

Different strokes for different folks.

We don't like Whispering Canyon Cafe. Weren't impressed with the food, service, and it was just plain too loud... but for others, it is just what they want.

We LOVE Mama Melrose, but know others who can't stand it... doesn't stop us from going, and we have never had a bad meal, or poor service.

I am certainly not going to be upset if one of my favorites is not a favorite of someone else... perhaps they type of food is not to their liking, or the server had a bad night, or maybe the guest just had a bad day and nothing at that point would please them. You just don't know the ins and outs of the situation, so my advice is to try it yourself. If you like it, then be happy you tried it, and if you didn't chalk it up to experience.

I had the same concerns about the Chef Mickey's reviews before we went to WDW in May. Don't change your plans! We went to Chef Mickey's our first night and it was absolutely wonderful!!!
In fact, this was our favorite meal of our trip. The food and character interaction were both outstanding!!!

On the other hand, we weren't crazy out some of the other meals we had that others rave about such as Boma, Cape May Cafe, and Brown Derby, so you just never know until you try for yourself.

Have a magical trip :)

I think I know what you mean - but it is just a difference of opinion, not to be taken personally.

I think it has more to do with the way someone disagrees with you on the boards. For instance - if I post that the Plaza Restaurant is a great place for lunch, and someone else replies that they had a bad experience there - that's cool. But if someone posts back "That was the worst meal I every had! It stunk!" That kinda makes me feel like an idiot! LOL!

I'm getting better at it, though! As others have said, I think about the comments, but still make PS's at favorite spots and those restaurants I want to try! :)

Doesn't bother me, everyone has different likes and dislikes. Plus ALL restaurants have off days once and a while. I take all reviews with a grain of salt, but if someplace has 95% bad reviews that's usually a good sign to stay away. LOL

If there's someplace I really want to try I go ahead and try it and form my own opinion. I have to say out of all the times at WDW we've only hit two places that we really disliked and we've had one bad service one, but the food was good, so we'd probably go back again.

I feel a little bit better now. I had pretty much decided to keep our ps at Chef Mickey's. I know my two nieces will be just thrilled to have an opportunity to visit with Mickey and Minnie without standing in a long line to do so. I plan on going to this buffet dinner with an open mind and just concentrate on my two darling girls and watching the expressions on their faces. Thanks again for the positive comment!

I just don't like to see someone really trashing my favorite restaurant just because they don't happen to like that type of food. If you don't like the food, fine. Don't go to the restaurant. But leave the rest of us who like it alone!

Lisa,

I am not 100% positive about this but I didn't want you to be disappointed in your Chef Mickey's experience.

I don't think Minnie appears at this restaurant. I remember seeing Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale but not Minnie.... maybe she was just off that morning !!! LOL :p

Can someone else comment on this???

It doesn't really bother me. I do get annoyed when I really get to enjoy a particular place and some major aspect of it is changed. I used to really enjoy the buffet in Norway, but it has went through a couple of changes and I am loathe to recommend it now. It's not bad, just not a place I would recommend or really even go out of my way for. If I was in the "neighborhood", yes.

I realize they have to tweek the menus and such to draw more guests, but it can be disconcerting. However, it has vastly improved other places, so I can see both sides. The Crystal Palace is a huge fave of mine now; I thought it was truly under-utilized before. A certain amount of sameness is comforting, I guess. If they banish the Dole Whips........

It just brings to bear the importance of researching before each trip. I go at least once a year, but I can't keep up with all the dining possibilities. The Liberty Tree used to have a "regular" dinner, but have had a Character Dinner for several years now. I made reservations right around when the change was made and was surprised by the change. It was just fine and we really enjoyed the dinner, but it could have went the other way just as easily. I really try to keep up with the changes.....that's why these boards are so wonderful! ;)

It doesn't bother me. I always find it interesting how different people experience the same place. Even reveiws that I don't agree with usually have something worth pondering.

We had dinner at Chef Mickey's last June and loved it. Don't change your plans--everybody here has different tastes and different expectations. I don't think Minnie is a regular there, although she breezed through the waiting area while we there--she did not stop to visit. If you want to see Minnie--she is at Liberty Tree Tavern and was in the waiting area at Cape May during the character breakfast.

Add another doesn't bother me to the count. I love reading everybody's experiences but take into account that it is other's experiences. We'll try new restaurants each time but also mix in the ones we know we love. Every trip must include LeCellier, Chef Mickey's & San Angel just to name a few. That being said, I also know I will NEVER step foot in Boma again. But, I don't begrudge anyone their enjoyment of Boma, it just wasn't for us.

Live, Learn & stay true to yourself!

Doesn't bother me. Outside of specific fact based replies (hours, ticket prices, etc), most posts are opinions. Everyone has a different experience w/respect to restaurants, resorts, parks, rides, etc.
