Does Haunted Mansion still have FP?

I thought I remembered reading FP had been taken out here, but now I'm not sure.

Anyone know? Thanks!

I believe the machines are still present, but they are very rarely used.

A friend brought me back a MK park map from when he was there a week ago and the park map still shows FP available for the Haunted Mansion

We were there this last Wednesday. The machines were covered probably because the stand by wait time was only 10 minutes.

We rode it day and night (love HM!!) during our 3/22-3/28/05 trip, and never saw a FP machine uncovered. Great, fast-loading ride -- Wait was less than 10 minutes everytime.

The fastpass at Haunted mansion has been discontinued. Bad move.

Huh?

The only reason FastPass isn't used at the Haunted Mansion is because it isn't needed. It is a fast loading ride with a very high hourly guest capacity. PolyHereWeCome was at WDW during Easter week and reported 10 minute waits. There is simply no need for FP.

Why is this a "Bad Move"?

I was there after Easter and the map showed it had Fastpass, but the CM said it is not active at all. It was a 45 minute wait, ugh! We actually skipped it. When I asked they said they bought a bunch of maps so next order it will be fixed and show it was a non FP.

i read somewhere that they were moving the fp machines from hm to the tom. indy speedway. don't know when though!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Fast pass machines at HM covered and tied all of last week. Once had a 40 minute wait, but machines remained covered.

You're wrong, but that's ok. We were also there during Easter week and saw waits over an hour. the line snaked past the entrance to the steam boat. The line is regularly over 40 minutes. So, there simply is a need for FP. That is why it is a "Bad Move".

Yes, I was there during Easter/Spring Break '05 and we never saw 40-45 wait times! The MK was open 7 AM - midnight (one night it stayed open until 3 AM) and think we rode in the 9-11 AM and 7-8 PM range everytime -- not like Dumbo, PP, Pooh, Splash and Indy Cars, which we rode within the 1st hr. of park opening over a few mornings.

JenniferW, noopy, & Figment -- So sorry to hear this. What time was it?? Sounds like HM might still need FP machines, but then again, during peak time of day during peak season, wonder if everything has a long wait time (we never were in MK then, but others reported even waiting for IASW and Hall of Presidents -- which is shocking!!!).

No, the line is not "regularly" over 40 minutes. It is very rarely over 40 minutes. And if PolyHereWeCome never saw a line that long, then it means that the lengthy lines were limited to specific times of day.

How many attractions did you see with a line LESS than 40 minutes during the second busiest week of the year? If you subscribe to that line of thinking, then everything from Dumbo to Goofy's Barnstormer should have FP installed. That would be a "Bad Move."

I find it amusing that you are getting all worked up over this. But, again, you are wrong. The line is, and was, "regularly" over 40 minutes. When I go back in August, it will be, as well. As for more fastpass attractions, what would be wrong with this idea? You act like it is a bad thing. And yes, as I stated earlier, it was a "Bad Move".

Well while we all enjoy HM....none of us really want to wait 40 minutes.
WDW has obviously quit using them through slow and extremely busy times here recently and seem to remain confident that this will be okay with everyone.
I have heard it rumored that the fastpass machines are supposed to be "relocated" to the Tomorrowland Speedway which is in dire need of help in speeding up their wait times.
While it might seem a bad move for some, it might be a good move for others.
Unfortunately it's not up to us.
Remember we are supposed to be having fun!

Not "worked up"...just incredulous. Never waited more than 10 minutes myself without FP in ALL of our trips. After parades...afternoon of EMH...I've never seen a line myself. Guess that just makes me the luckiest WDW guest ever. :rotfl2: (yeah, whatever)

Or perhaps we just do a better job of developing our touring strategy than some guests.

The value of FastPass is predicated upon guests being able to actually DO something while they await their FP return time--even if that means waiting in a 30+ minute standby line during busy times. A park full of people standing around waiting for their FP return times to arrive isn't going to make the WDW experience any better than it is today.

I have seen lines for HM short and long, and both recent. It's all in the timing, with luck thrown in.
What I never liked about the HM FP was where FP dropped off guests in line. That never made a lot of sense.

Accurate and articulate statements.
I didn't like the fastpass drop spot either...unless there was a really large line it didn't really benefit anyone much at all.
As far as timing....that is very true and applicable throughout all WDW.
If you keep encountering long waits at HM...try a different time.
We have usually found it to be calm early in the morning or very late at night.

That's an entirely seperate topic, but briefly : yes, FP on more attractions would be a bad thing - just ask the folks on the other coast (Disneyland) who are now removing FP from many attractions they put it up on throughout the 90's because it created havoc and mayhem where it didn't need to be.

FP is a godsend for attractions like Splash Mountain or Test Track, but when you put it on more minor attractions (not simply in scope, but in terms of visitors) it tends to artifically inflate the stand-by time more than it's worth. Instead of everyone waiting 10-20 minutes, for example, some people wait 5 minutes (FP) and others wait 40 (stand-by).

HM is one of those rides. The only time I have seen waits of more than 20-30 minutes have been just after the fireworks at MNSSHP (when everyone runs to HM for one last ride) and during the super-busy periods occasionally there is a bottleneck (Spring break, summer) but average wait times are far less even then.

FP is a great thing, but like many great things it's best in moderation.
