We have been members since January 2001 and love it. It's hard to say if it saves you money initially though. We financed our purchase which means the yearly costs are still high but, once it is paid off we will only have the annual dues to pay.
We love WL and could see ourselves staying there at least every other year. With the kids getting bigger, we would eventually need two rooms, which was part of the reason we decided on DVC. Also - having more space and being able to prepare food in the rooms was a deciding factor.
So far we have had four night in Old Key West, two nights in Disneyland Paris with tickets and one week in Portugal in our first year and a halfs membership and we only have 150 points. Our next trip will be to WDW in January or May 2003.
DVC is not for everyone but, if you like to stay on-site in one of the more expensive hotels, would like larger accommodations and the opportunity to prepare food in your own villa, it is well worth considering.
