Does DVC AP include Memory Maker?

We have APs we purchased with DVC discount in 2015. Our APs expire in May 2016. We are traveling to WDW in 2 weeks and I was going to pre-purchase Memory Maker. Now I remember reading that APs would include photos and I just want to confirm that is just for new APs purchased and not our APs which we activated in May 2015 before APs included photos. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

new annual passes have memory maker. Old ones from May do not. You can "upgrade" one of the APs in your group to a DVC gold annual pass, it is around $20 more and has blackout dates (which likely won't matter to you) but it comes with the memory maker so you would get the memory maker for your trip for $20 or so instead of having to pay much much more

Can we upgrade from home by calling DVC or have to wait until we arrive? I just want to make sure our pictures will include the first 3 days of our trip since Memory Maker has a three day waiting period?

they will all be included, the waiting period only applies to the pre-order discount of memory maker. You will need to do it at guest services at the park. In fact since some guest services locations have people who don't know what they are doing, we needed to visit two guest service locations to get it done

Along the line of the original question is there anything we need to do to link the annual pass Memory Maker into My Disney Experience or is it automatic with the annual pass? I know there is a section to link memory maker in and I'm not sure if we need to put our annual pass numbers (we have a confirmation # only right now as we won't get our actual passes until we get to the park) into that area on my Disney experience or if the system automatically knows. Thanks!

PhotoPass downloads is a function of new passes (Gold and Platinum) issued since 10/4/2015. You only need to link that AP to MDE to be able to download your pictures.

OK, sorry if this is a dumb question, but even after many trips to DW, I've never really paid attention to Photopass. We just purchased the Platinum AP certificate that we will activate in May. I understand that we get unlimited Photopass downloads - does this mean we can print off as many pictures from our printer when we get home, that we want? :confused3

Once you download the pictures, you can do almost anything with them.

So AP's come with Photopass and NOT Memory Maker, correct? The difference being that Photopass only gets you photos of the AP holders themselves, whereas Memory Maker gets you photos of everyone linked to your MDE account. Do I have that right? This stuff gets confusing!

No AP holders can view/download pics taken with other family/friends bands (unless it recently changed). I personally have had that experience and seen others post the same as well.

Thank you so much!! If only I upgrade to Gold, do I have to be present for every photo or if my husband rides something with my older two while I wait with our youngest, will their ride pic/video show in our account even though they don't have my magic band linked to the Gold AP? Hope that makes sense!

As long as you are linked via MDE, all photos scanned with any of the bands on the linked accounts will show up for you to download via the AP Photopass.

I have had several times where I have duplicates or triplicates of a photo showing on my PhotoPass account because there is one for each magicband/card that scanned the photo or the system "found"; like ToT & 7DMT.

DVC AP's are Photopass not Memory Maker. You can download all the photos with Photopass

Thanks!! Can you add borders and characters to the photos also just like Memory Maker? You just download the photos rather than a disc?

We are planning on buying regular AP's for our trip this coming May. We have not been AP holders since 2009. I love the fact that we now get our pictures included. Not sure what the difference is between MM and PhotoPass. My DH and I will be the only AP holders but my stepson and DIL and SIL will be down with us also. Will we be able to get all pictures that all 5 of us take - even is my DH and I are not in the picture - like one with just my stepson or just my DIL and SIL? I imagine they will need to be linked to our account. My stepson is as we have traveled to Disney with him a lot - but this is the first time my DIL and SIL will be with us.

We will be heading back in October of this year and we will also be able to get all our photos from that trip too. This is a real incentive to getting the AP. We very rarely purchase photos.

Linda
