Does Dream feel really crowded?

You should of had the the police waiting at port in the USA.

Told the crew and security that they would be waiting to interview them.

Contacted the captain and told him the same thing.

If Anyone ever laid a hand on me or my family you better bet I would I of had police waiting when we docked in port in USA!! They now feel probably that they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Awful and scary. It doesn't sound like a lot of adult behavior when on on that cruise, very sad!

Some passengers got carried away and began stealing. I heard that dozens of butter knives shaped as paint brushes were taken from Animator's Palate on the first night.

This is so, so sad. Respect is a two way street; clearly many posters here insist Disney to live up to high expectations, but we owe DCL exactly the same. I wish those people had (1) been billed on their onboard account for the items they stole (2) been banned from the dining room for the remainder of the trip and (3) not allowed to return to DCL cruises. There will always be other guests we find bothersome for any number of reasons, and that's life (maybe they find us bothersome), but stealing/pushing kids out of the way/hoarding???

We always have a ball cruising. I find the ship to be FILLED with kind, honest people who make the cruise a pleasure. For those few who are rude/dishonest, be nice if they could be just pixie dusted away!

my opinion is that everyone on here should calm down about all these trip reports from the Dream and whats wrong!! haha :rotfl::rotfl: its the maiden voyage already and its the first cruise that the Dream was fully functioning at max capacity and doing everything. a ship wont be spot on 100% perfect for EVERYONE on the first fully fuctioning maiden voyage. this happens with all new ships. I am fully aware that there were kinks wrong with the Magic on its Maiden Voyage and looks how its turned out?

This is why I wouldn't go on any Maiden voyage. I would rather wait a couple months until all the kinks are ironed out. :cloud9:

All we were asking for was someone to show sympathy. Instead, it really seemed that they either thought we were guilty or they were trying to sweep it under the rug. One of them even admitted that they didn't think anything had happened until a witness stepped up to confirm that it was more intense than the perpetrators were trying to play it off as. My mom kept asking what she did wrong, and we couldn't convince her that she didn't do anything wrong since Disney treated her so poorly. She was crying, shaking, and in physical pain and security treated her like she should just toughen up.
.

I believe under the new Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act that they are required to report this when they return to a US port. Contact Disney and make sure this was done.

Please do make sure it was reported, they should be at least away, especially in case the other couple make a report.

Thank you to all who have reported back.

After reading this, I am VERY glad we won't be sailing the Dream anytime soon. The Fantasy will be out by then and hopefully all this craziness will be over.

IMO, all this bad behavior is a product of the amount of build-up and anticipation that has surrounded the Dream. The pressure has been building for so long that by the time people actually got on the ship they just explored.

The MV was full of platinum and gold Castaway Club members that knew more about DCL than many of the new crew. The passengers love Disney and wanted the souvenirs to prove it so yes, the shops were crowded to get the MV merchandise right away. Stuff literally flew off the shelves in a couple of minutes.

Some passengers got carried away and began stealing. I heard an elevator was out of service due to the removal of a Mickey head. I heard that dozens of butter knives shaped as paint brushes were taken from Animator's Palate on the first night.

Some passengers feel entitled and began to act like the seagulls from Finding Nemo -- Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine

WOW, where was the pixie dust? I can tell you from reading some of these reports that I've met some of these people at DisneyWorld! Entitlement galore, no manners, and brutish.

But I think it's frightening to hear that a woman can be assaulted by two people, physically grabbed and yanked around and Disney security forces her to defend herself about the charges! What kind of training did the staff and crew go through to qualify for the Dream! :scared1::sad2:

And the stealing -- like I said, I've seen these people in the parks and at the resorts :rolleyes1 Hey, the year after Elvis died we went to Graceland and there were people tearing limbs off the trees and trying to chip the bricks from the walls to take! Geez, these type of people are just going to make it harder for me to get my set of menus now

This was our first cruise with Disney and they got us for life now.
Never felt crowded and the staff had the kids herded and under control and out of adult areas.
We went without kids this time and the most memorable experience (one of them) was seeing all the beautiful Disney princesses together in the atrium and watching them love on the children and the faces of the childen when they were in the arms of these beloved Disney characters

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it, so I am burying it in this thread as a compromise to myself.

Other passengers almost ruined the maiden voyage for me. My mother was assaulted on the deck near the mickey pool. A couple thought my mom had stolen some t-shirts from their stroller, and attempted to wrestle the supposedly stolen merchandise from my mom. My mom tried to flee but the couple pursued yelling at my parents and eventually grabbing and restraining my mom causing her quite a bit of pain (she had just had back surgery). A cast member had called security, and they began to tell everyone (including some cast members) that my parents were thieves and that the wife had seen my mother taking the shirts from their stroller.

Of course, they went to show the cast member where the t-shirts were stolen from when, wouldn't you know it, the shirts were sitting in the stroller, right where they left them.

However, my biggest complaint wasn't about the guests, but about the security staff who had somehow become convinced that my family somehow perpetrated the incident and treated my mother like a culprit, not like a victim. When my sister and I arrived on the scene, I found my mom crying and shaking - alone except for my Dad who was about as shocked as my Mom. I noticed four security officers standing about 20 feet away and went over to figure out what happened (my dad was not in a great state of mind either). The (assuming) head officer refused to talk to me saying they would only talk to my mother, not to me. They also accused me of "putting fuel on the fire" when I told them that they needed to send someone over to stay with my mom until this ordeal was over. My sister pleaded, saying that she was not okay and that she needed someone from Disney to ensure her that everything was okay and that she was safe (my mom was really shocked by the whole incident). He told us that my mom was okay and that we needed to leave.

I would later learn that he had told that his way of comforting my mom was to tell her that he was a police officer from New York City and that this was nothing. Her response was that she should feel a whole lot safer on the Dream than in New York City. He also laughed at her when she called it "assault".

I went straight to guest services after dealing with my mom (she refused to move from her seat, but we managed to get my whole family there to be with her). When I got in the guest services line, the hotel director was filtering guests in the guest services line to make sure that only those who actually needed to talk to guest services were waiting in line.

Once I started talking to the Hotel Director, he started to understand my perspective. Honestly, he seemed amazed by the conduct of the security team. Sure, they enforced the law, but they forgot completely about the guest who was assaulted. That being said, guest services handled my incident way better than the security staff did. I was able to talk to the head of guest services as well. He assured me that he received the report from the security officer and from the Hotel Director and had forwarded the information to the staff captain. This was not the way it was supposed to happen and frankly, treating my family the way they did was unacceptable.

It took about 24 hours before my mom would stop talking about the incident. Speaking to the guest services manager and the hotel director helped a lot. All Disney really had to do was listen, and no one wanted to.

I am so sorry this happened to you and pray your mom and family are ok.
Reading this thread with my mouth open.
I had heard about the problems (mostly at our dinner table) but had no real idea all this was going on.
This was our first cruise with Disney and for sure will not be our last.
But yes we did see some caos onboard.
We did not know you could keep the glasses we used for the champaign toast onboard so silly us kept taking the glasses back.
Saw a person actully grab a champaign bottle from a staff members hand and walk away with it as the guy was pouring.
These are the places security should have been at.
We felt a little bad because we had turned all our glasses back and just wanted a couple.
We went around and asked a couple bartenders and they acutually gave us some they had found.
'So we ended up with 1 glass from the Maiden Voyage, one glass from the Christening voyage, and our table staf came up with six glasses from a preview cruise.
So I think for every bad story you will also here stories of cast members going way to infinity and beyond to give good experiences.
Ay least that was our experience aboard the Dream.
We will avoid Maiden voyages here on Disney though.
Going on the first Eastern Carribean Fantasy cruise next April though.
Again I hope and pray your mom is ok

:lmao: What a perfect illustration! This sums up how I was feeling about some of my fellow MV passengers!

I have to agree here. I was truly amazed by the ignorance and attitude of some of my felllow MV 'guests'. The first night shopping, could only be described as a full contact sport.

Those who stole the AP cutlery (and the CMs know which tables it was) should have been confined to their staterooms.

Otherwise, the CM's (especially the new ones) really tried hard to be as good as they could be. The food (IMHO) was the best we've seen on DCL. Crowding? not a factor until debark (which was the Customs & Border Patrol's issue).

They can't be sure that someone from a different table didn't pick them up?

It truly is sad! They went through such painstaking detail only for people to run off with them. When they are replaced with plastic knives, there will be an outcry!

There are so many luxurious details on the Dream, the plates, cutlery, pillows, towels, etc. that I fear people will just take what they want and leave future guests with inferior replacements.

I wish everyone would just take a picture and move on!!

Stealing is not cute and we all suffer:mad:

The Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act only requires the reporting to the FBI of an "assault with serious bodily injury" as well as other more serious crimes such as homicide and sexual assualt. As horrifying as the reported incident was, thankfully, the PP's Mom was not seriously injured. -- Suzanne

If an item is taken or a pillow, the guest room should be charged. Or Disney can have a price list in the room of things that can be taken for a price.

Yep, once upon a time didn't they do that with the propellor clocks?

One of the very first actual pictures from the Dream I saw was the hidden mickey bread basket from AP and the caption under it said something to the effect of "How long are these going to last?" Sad. :sad2:

Yep, DH & I were JUST talking about this. In 2005 on our honeymoon, there was a note in the room saying something to the effect of the price of the clock would be charged to your stateroom - if I remember correctly, it was like $70 or so. I noticed now they sell them in the gift shops!
