I was talking to my friend who is going to WDW in like a month for summer and he said he is going for 7 days. He's been there before too. He said that 7 days is about the most you'll wanna spend there because Disney has no real thrill rides and if I stayed any longer I would be wasting my money and I'd get really sick of it. He said if I stayed less I could upgrade to a better Hotel.... But I'd rather stay in a value and add a couple more days to the trip.

Now, originally I was planning on going for 12 days/13 nights. Is he right? Does WDW get boring after 7 days? Does it then become a waste of money? He said I should go for an absolute maximum of 8 days. I am a really big fan of Disney World and I want to be there for as long as I can afford. But is he right about what he says? I mean he's been there alot of times. I am confused! What should I do??? I dont want to get sick of it. :confused3 :grouphug: :listen:

we go for ten days and there is plenty to do We dont go to the park everyday either.

been there for about 16 days once...9 days on property and a the rest off and i can say that we never ran out of things to do.

everyone is different. we went 3 times in 16 month, 2 of those where 10 days... 1st 10 day trip we couldn't get enough, 2nd was a bit long, BUT it was raining and cold DEC and that just changed the mood. We still have not seen a lot of things and do not think 10 days is too long tho :goodvibes

Hmm...cannot say that has EVER been a problem for me. There is quite a bit to do that doesn't involve the 4 main parks.

We just got back from our nth trip. There is still stuff we haven't done, but we did accomplish some new things on this trip! We manage to do something new on every trip.

I really think it is a matter of opinion. I never get bored in Disney World. I've been there 15 times and everytime I go I make a point of trying something different. I haven't run out of things to do yet. I am not a thrill ride person but I always find something to enjoy. My DH and I just got back from our first solo vacation in WDW in April. We just sat and enjoyed watching people walk and interact by the castle. We haven't done that before. We usually are on the go with the kids.
Your friend may get bored but that doesn't mean you will. People I know go to the NJ shore every weekend during the summer. Can't that get boring too? It's all in what you make of it and what you enjoy.
Just go and have a grand time. Don't worry about getting bored! :yay:

Don't let your naysayer friend undermine your love of WDW; some people just don't "get it" and it sounds like the naysayer may be one of those! If all he cares about are thrill rides and nothing else then he is missing the nuances that make WDW so special. If you love WDW, then you know what I'm talking about. The place never gets old, it's too richly detailed and varied. Don't let yourself be influenced by a non-disney lover. Those folks surround us at every turn, but we shall not be deterred...ha ha ha!

Don't get me wrong, I love WDW - and I would never call it boring - but I don't think I'd want to be there for two whole weeks. I guess it depends on whether or not you have access to the waterparks and Disney Quest, but the four main parks are what we stick to. Magic Kingdom gets two days, MGM one, AK, one, and Epcot sometimes two. We usually divide that up with a beach day in the middle, because sometimes I just need to not be walking through the parks, yk? I guess it's harder because we have little kids and we're more limited to what we can do - and it depends on when you go, because you might need two or three days per park with hour to two hour wait lines. But we've always gone off-season, walked on to most rides, and been able to see everything we wanted to.

I do enjoy having dinners and breakfasts at the resorts, but I think even in a week you can accomplish quite a bit. So, while I don't agree with the comments about it being boring, I could see the advantage of spending fewer days at a nicer resort. Just a matter of what's important to you, though.

It all depends on the person-my DH is done after 3 or 4 days-ready to get home and get on with work (he's a self-employed workaholic) I could go for 7 days tops. I LOVE Disney and have so much fun when I'm there, but having been 16+ times now, I'm content after 6-7 days..... :)

Just as many have said it just depends on the person. He may like thrill rides and nothing else while you may like many more. Some only want to do a ride once while others would go on the smae ride 10 times in a row :Pinkbounc

I go 80 some times a year and I haven't found it boring yet. There is always something new to see or do. Before I went to Disney for the first time I wondered how people could enjoy it. Boy was I wrong!!!!

depends on the person...the question is do you get bored easily? there is a ton of stuff to do...there is also nothing to do if that is what you want to do. The beauty of going for a long stretch is that you have ability to see Disney the way (IMO) it should be done....the relaxed way. Yes you can run from place to place and do everything, but IMO I enjoy the nice and slow way. Hit a park and stroll around the park, doing a few attractions, but also taking in the environment.

I think some peeps who get 'bored' with WDW might not fully 'get' Disney. They treat it as just another 'amusement park' which I think you'll find most people here do not believe. My brother and sister-in-law go down several times over the winter and they are not interested in the rides, they tend to just chill out in world showcase and they dont get bored in the least.

I guess it depends on how you view a vacation at WDW. You know, when I was a kid in Massachusetts, everyone around me went to the Cape (Cape Cod) every summer and no one ever wondered if they got bored. People have vacation homes, or rent places in the same vacation location regularly. There's so much to do outside the theme parks that we could go to WDW for a week or two every year, never go on a ride, and still have a wonderful vacation.

It all depends on what type of person you are and what you want from your vacation.

Sounds like your friend is a thrill ride/non-stop action kind of guy. Much of what WDW has to offer is unrelated to rides so I can definitely see why he'd feel the way he does. We travel to Orlando every fall for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal and, because we've been to both many times, we tend to alternate between WDW and Universal to avoid that "been there/done that" feeling we might get if we went to the same place every year. There's nothing wrong with your friend's opinion...not everyone is devoted to spending all their yearly vacation time at WDW - many of us like to do other things in Orlando or visit other parts of the world and that's OK :thumbsup2

Since you are a fan of Disney and it sounds like you haven't done the parks to death previously, I think seven days would give you a great amount of time to fully enjoy the parks without exhausting yourself, and have the advantage of having lots of extra time to explore the resorts, Downtown Disney, see La Nouba, or something like that.

something else to think about is the time of year you go. mid summer can be brutal at WDW. I was there for 14 or 15 days one year at the end of june start of july and another time for 10 in aug...both of these visits were actually even before they had the AK and I still didnt do absolutely everything. The heat and crowds will get to you (I know they did me) and so mid day breaks back to the hotel and the relative quiet of the pool were mandatory...just to cool down and regain some of my sanity (yeah well maybe I never regained any of that ;) )

If you are going for two weeks then I would try to treat it as a holiday to Orlando rather than just WDW. So also check out Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure and Sea World too. Also make sure you build in days just to swim and relax and to go to the malls and retail outlets. International Drive also has some fun things to do for the afternoon like Ripley's Believe it or not. There are also some day trips to places like Busch Gardens, NASA space station or Silver Springs. Of course the other advantage of having a long time is that you can spread the bigger parks over 2 days so it's all less rushed.

As everyone else has been saying it depends on you. I would say two weeks of just Disney Disney Disney might get repetitive and I must confess on our final night of a two week holiday I was a bit theme parked out.

But there is so much to do in Orlando you won't get bored! Just think some people spend two weeks JUST sitting by a pool/on the beach.

I went for 10 days in January and had so much to do....I even took one day off and swam and saw a movie with my son. We had a lot of fun and never got bored.

Have done several 10-12 day trips and never got bored.Like said earlier we dont do parks every day nothing wrong with laying around the resort and being lazy after all its vacation. There is so much more than the parks to due and thats not even counting whats there to do in Orlando. If its your first trip to be quite honest 12 days you will leave thinking you needed more time to do every thing.

I love going for 2 weeks - wish I could do it all the time. But, I like doing the non park things, and chilling at the resort too.

The only time I was ready to go home from WDW was when I was seven months pregnant(see picture below) and I just wanted my own bed. But I was still sad to leave! I don't think it's possible to get bored there. I have never even swam in a pool at WDW because we are so busy while we're there. My plan for the next trip is to take it slow so we can enjoy our resort more. I would say try the way you want to do it...if you get bored then modify your next trip.
