I have 7 2 park days with 2 add on days- these are tickets which were issued to us due to an incident at disney. 1 for each of our party (I have an email ref to pick them up when we next there - they are non expiring) . Now my issue is that only 4 of are returning. Does anyone know if they will allow us to trade in the 7 for 4 with more days on. I do not want to contact them in advance to ask in case they just change my ref to only 4 tickets.

Some other questions to check if anything has changed since our last visit

Do the water parks use finger sensors now

Does going to the water park set of the 14 day timer or is that just triggered when used at a main park if so we may use the other 3 tickets to do this an extra day and just pay for the other person.

At worst we will just go 2 days this visit and keep the other 3 tickets.

you *should* be able to use the value of each ticket towards the purchase of another ticket

but if those tickets are complimentary (you mentionned the result of an incident) then I think they basically have no face value and cannot be upgraded, merged or otherwise altered.

Does going to the water park set of the 14 day timer

yes

As they will complimentary tickets there will be no upgrades or changes.

The only thing you probably can do is take all 7 tickets and then just buy one for the 4th person.

Any entries will set off the 14 day timer and all parks use the finger print scan.

We had a one day complimentary ticket several years ago for MK. It can only be used for MK (we've still got it!)

I think our are for any 2 park plus 2 add on (at least that's what the email seems to say)

any 2 park plus 2 add on

so that would be a 2 days + waterpark fun&more

if this is the case (you should be able to add them to MyDisneyExperience so you'd be sure of what they are) then you get 2 days at 1 park (no park change if hopper isn't mentionned), and 2 entries at either a waterpark, disneyquest or a round of minigolf.

each visit to a waterpark, minigolf or DQ (even on the same day) will count as 1 add on entry (you only have 2 per ticket, so doing a waterpark in the morning and a round of minigolf will use up your 2 add on entries

(if those are indeed 2 days + WPF&M) you could take advantage of this feature, by doing 2 days at major parks, then one day only doing minor parks (waterparks, disneyquest, minigolf)
so you'd get 3 days out of each ticket.

your 2 "add on" entries would remain valid for 14 days after ticket activation even if you use up your 2 days of major park before the add on entries

hope it makes sense, but do check what you have by linking the tickets to MDX (once you get them if they're shipped, or with a reference on the email, or whatever means you have)

I would like to do that but I am not sure what would happen to the other 3 tickets if I do not assign them to any one. Scared I will loose them. If I assign them and do not use them can I keep them and use at a later date

any guest can have multiple tickets assigned to them

you could very well assign all 7 tickets to yourself (and I think MDX will require you to assign tickets to existing profiles on your MDX)

MDX will allow you to prioritize tickets in order for you to decide which ticket will be used next time you enter a park (in case you have more than one ticket assigned to you)

but I also do agree that MDX is an accident waiting to happen. So I'd also be very wary

anyway, if you want to book FP+ at 60/30 days out, you'll need to link them at one moment or the other.
maybe is it best to wait until you have to call disney (which you might eventually have to at some point in the planning process) and ask them what's best to do.
