Does Disney own MGM or just the movie studios?

I am just wondering, because I heard that MGM was thinking of buying Universal and if that were the case would Disney then own Universal Studios as well?

I think Disney made some kind of deal with MGM to use the name. There is no ownership. Have you noticed the MGM has started to get phased out? I've noticed more and more it being called Disney Studios.

I myself have not noticed. The last time I was down there was November of 2001 and after a trip I miss Disney so much, I try and stay away from things like the boards and such.

Oh well, I suppose it was wishfull thinking on my part

Disney has a parnership w/ MGM to use their movies in its park (also they do have a partnership with Lucus for star wars, the Jim Hensen company for the muppets and before disney bought ABC, they were partnered with them too showcaseing ABC shows in the park)

The official name of the park is "Disney-MGM Studios." I noticed on official Disney schedules and such they always referred to it as "Studios" for short. I thought that was because MGM might be easily confused with MK. I guess not.

If you have the new video, you'll notice the signs now say Disney Studios. I was shocked. There was no attention drawn to it, but they kept saying Disney Studios and I noticed that everywhere that MGM had been in the pictures, it is now gone - at least on the video.
