Does DCL still do nightly turn down service?

We are cruising in the fall with DCL newbies and we haven’t cruised since pre-Covid. I’m hoping DCL still has the same great service they had pre-covid since we have been telling our friends how wonderful it is. They usually cruise another line and are hearing that service has dropped significantly so I’m hoping that’s not the case with DCL.

I must be missing something with the other cruise lines that have stopped the nightly room freshen up and turn down. It's not like it takes any extra staff, the cabin stewards who already are on board do that. Unless I am missing some other job the cabin stewards do.

The other lines cut the number of staff that service rooms and assigned each steward more rooms to clean. So, the rooms are only serviced once per day. Thankfully, Disney isn't doing this.

During our cruise in February our stateroom attendant ONLY did turn-down service. Which means he never came in the morning or afternoon. I don’t know if that’s a new policy or if our attendant was doing less than he should but we really didn’t like it because it meant our beds were always down so there was no couch to sit on and it was hard to access the balcony (we were in a five person room with the Murphy bed that goes down in front of the balcony door).

I've sailed 3 time Post Covid and have not seen any decline in service. In fact, our experience on the Wish this year, was the Crew (and the food) were the highlights. We had excellent service across the board.

I’ve sailed on DCL numerous times since they begin sailing again up until just about a week ago on three different ships and I’ve seen no significant difference in service.

We've sailed DCL twice since COVID. The first cruise we were out of the stateroom a lot and received AM (neaten room) and PM (turn down) service. The second cruise we didn't go to the dinners so no PM service. Our only problem with the no PM service is - for some reason - the room steward rolled the top sheet to the bottom of the bed so the first night we slept directly under the duvet. I couldn't figure out what my feet were hitting so I looked. After that I knew to go looking for the top sheet.

That is not the norm! You could have said something - either to your stateroom attendant or to guest services.

In general I think it is always fair to talk to guest services if you are missing a service but aren’t sure whether it’s still provided. You can always just ask what service you can expect and if you don’t give them your room number you don’t need to be afraid of it having a bad effect on your stateroom attendant (if that is something you didn’t want).

As this was in February I strongly suspect there may have been crew sick with colds/flu/noro that resulted in the remaining healthy staterooms hosts covering for the other sick hosts and therefore having too many rooms on that cruise for both services. That kind of thing happens in December-February.
