Does DCL do Norway/Iceland cruises every year?

Hello wise DCL ones!

Our DCL Baltics was cancelled. We rescheduled for next year's Norway/Iceland, but we are really unsure (as is everyone) of what will be happening with cruising next year, and not sure we will be comfortable with going on a big ship by next summer. I am not aware enough of DCLs past European cruises to know if Norway/Iceland it a routine itinerary or if it is one of the special ones. Do they usually do Norway/Iceland, or is it usually just Norway itself?

Specific Itineraries can't be guaranteed by anyone on here till announced by Disney. That being said, It seems as though there's an 11/12 night Norway/Iceland/Scotland sailing pretty much every year in Late July/Early August. I am hoping to go on this sailing myself at some point soon!

If school schedules are still something to worry about, the dates for these cruises do tend to shift around, sometimes it's late August for the Iceland and Norway cruise...and years ago they did the Northern cruises in May/June and the Med in July/August. We'd love to do a Norway one, but kids are back in school then...and the Norway/Iceland one next year is out of our price range, partly due to it starting in July.

They swap the dates of the longer Iceland and Baltic cruises every year to give all families a shot at doing both over time. The July cruises are during the school holidays for most - and no surprises, more expensive - while the August cruises are significantly cheaper.

The Iceland cruise does visit a couple of outside Norway ports but doesn't really have the time to go inside the famous fjords. A separate Norwegian fjords cruise is scheduled every year at the end of August for this trip. The fjords are incredibly popular though and can only accommodate at most 2 or 3 ships at a time - including the coastal ferries. Disney - being late as always - then ends up with a somewhat different fjords itinerary every year depending on which port is available.

If you can, do all three - Baltic, Iceland, and Norway - over a few years. They are all wonderful and each very different.

No guarantee, but since I've been looking they have been doing it once a year. We were on the 2018 cruise and it was fantastic. They change up the ports each time, so we were booked on the 2020 one but of course it was cancelled. It's truly a fantastic itinerary most years.

Makes perfect sense! Why not switch it up and vary the itineraries a bit.

The thing that interests me the most about the Iceland/Norway sailing is the actual itinerary itself. Having previously only sailed on Caribbean/Bahamanian sailings, the idea of going somehere that isn't blazing hot is nice. The 2 or 3 port stops then a day over the 11 days sounds amazing to me.

I love that the Iceland/Norway cruise includes an overnight in Iceland. The price point keeps me out though. I wish Iceland could be added as a stop on the EBTA, it is on some other cruise lines.

Magic's EBTA connects Florida with Spain, so Iceland is way out of the way. And, by late September (WBTA), most of the northern Atlantic, including Iceland, becomes too cold or windy.

Try Celebrity's transatlantic cruises in August if you fancy hitting a few gems in that 'arc':

Pretty sure they were talking about the same transatlantic that the Magic does from Dover to NYC in Late August/Early September. Kinda like the same cruise you recommended!

It sounds like people are giving options and that is great. OP, If you really want do Norway/Iceland on DCL I would say that you can expect to have an option moving forward, unless new travel restrictions are placed. We did the inaugural Norway/Iceland cruise and there has been at least one each season since. The exact itinerary has differed some but it seems to be a fixture in the European schedule for now.

That's WBTA (not east-bound), but very few cruise ships visit Reykjavik in late September - the timing of Magic's trip from Dover to NYC. Yes, the temperatures are cooler, but the risk is with wind and rain. A bit like visiting Alaska in late September.

You can catch Northern Lights in late September. You will have to stay up late since the sunset is still not until about 8.30pm and - of course - hope that the cloud cover is thin.

Yep, I mistyped, I meant the WBTA. And I personally wouldn't mind a bit of wind and rain if it meant we might have a better chance of catching the Northern Lights! I've thought about doing one of those cruises in Norway/Sweden that guarantee a NL sighting.

That's what I assumed you meant. Mostly because the Eastern doesn't go anywhere near Iceland.

As others mentioned, the itinerary changes somewhat every year, both with respect to ports and dates. My family and I took an Iceland/Norway cruise last year on a different cruise line and it was fantastic! If you get the opportunity, it's definitely an itinerary worth taking. I love DCL, but it was just out of our budget. And we still had a great time.

We are booked on this one for next year also, but I am totally afraid to get my hopes up. I’m just going to watch and see, at this point I’m sort of planning on my head to move it to 2022.
