Does body size matter on rides?

This is the first time I've done this (posted a question) so I'm not sure what I'm doing, so bear with me. I am a single mom and I'm taking my little girl to Disney World this spring. I am quite overweight and I'm wondering if there are weight limit restrictions on the rides there. Does anybody know? Thanks!

WDW rides are VERY accomodating to "Pooh-Sized" guests.

This is often discussed here.

The smallest will be Teacups, Astro Orbiter, and Dumbo.

You should have no trouble riding most attractions.

You should have NO problem.
This comes from my first-hand experience at being a pooh-sized/puffy/fat person who has been to WDW several times! (I'm a size 28 if that helps you out at all). I fit on everything. There's only a couple issues such as a few old turnstiles mostly in the MK -- but I just go through with more of a sideways approach. Haha. All the areas with info on each park is on the left side of that page. You can read through it all. Just look forward to having a good time with your daughter! Remember, you can always ask a cast member if you have any doubts!

I'm 215 lbs 5'11" and I can't ride teacups. I mean, I "can" but, it's so tight that it even takes me a moment to get out.

That's the only ride I have a hard time with but, I believe that Everest actually has a notice about size on their coaster warnings.

DH is just at 400lbs. He cannot ride space mountain at either WDW or DL.
However, this is the only ride that we've tried to ride that we've had a problem with. He hasnt tried to ride rock-n-roller coaster.

I can tell you where size matters though ... Splash Mountain!
We love the fact that we can get EVERYONE wet in our log!

I'm "chubby" in the gut (LOL) .. but I fit on everything (as of 10/05) that I rode just fine, but I didn't do Dumbo or any of those rides. I'm probably not going to try Space Mountain, but I did fit Rockin Roller Coaster just fine.

There has been much discussion about larger-sized adults "fitting" into Expedition Everest seats.

Back in late January of this year, EE previewed to the public for the first time (limited to AP holders and DVC guests).

At that time, the lap-bar restraints had only "one click" to lock into position, and that one position was very low and VERY SNUG into the lap.

Many Pooh-sizers had trouble getting the bar to lock into position and some had to try to lock the bar first, then attempt to "slither" down into the seat with that bar pressing hard into their mid-sections.

I was THERE at that time (late Jan. '06), rode EE several times, and personally witnessed how the lap-bars worked and how the guests had to maneuver themselves to fit in the cars.

Since that preview there have been lots of questions as to whether Disney had made further adjustments to the restraint system.
But nobody seemed to be able to say FOR SURE that there had actually been any physical changes made.

WELL, GOOD NEWS:

After a May, 2006 visit to WDW, I can say without question that:

YES, they DID change the restraint system!
There are now MANY lock-position "clicks" on that lap-bar and it can be considered LOCKED at a much "wider and roomier" position than the first timers experienced.

So, EE is now VERY FRIENDLY to Pooh-sized guests... even quite large and tall.

I wanted everyone to know that from someone who experienced the "before" and "after" of the EE restraints.

This means EE joins the other attractions at WDW that are accommodating to adults of virtually any size!

you will be fine! when i was pregnant with miley i was overweight for being pregnant. i could ride very ride except tea cups cause i didn't plan on puking that day. but you will be fine!

Tell your husband that if he wants to he should try Rock n Rollercoaster. I am about 385 and have no problems with RNR. The restraints come over the shoulders and there has never been a question about fitting into the cars or the restraints adjusting properly. The cars are roomy as well, so hieght and size matter very little.

My DBIL couldn't ride RnR because of height. He's not overweight, just very tall - like 6'6".

I can see the new signs out front now...

"You must be this SHORT to ride this attraction."




The "over-the-shoulders" harness on RnR could be problematic if a tall rider can't "scrunch down" a bit so that it can close.

One of the reasons I love WDW is that rides are VERY accomodating to those of us who are Pooh sized.

I've ridden everything and the ONLY ride I had a problem with was Primevil Whirl in Dinoland at AK. I did fit, but if you are next to another person on the ride you might get REALLY squished. I had a nice bruise on my arm from it, but there are 3 seats across on the car and I was in an outside seat, I think it would have been fine if we had left the middle seat empty.

I had no problems with RNR...saw alot of people bigger and taller than me who didn't have any problems either. No problems on Everest either.

On a side note....while WDW rides are very accomodating, it's tough to find clothing in larger sizes at the shops. I've always thought this was strange.
To be so good in one way with the rides, but so limiting in an area where people spend money!

That's why I put in the "scrunch down" comment.

If you already rode it, you will be able to ride it again.
Nothing has changed.

I'm 6'1" and have no problems with the harnesses in any way on RnR.

If anyone is taller, they should be able to "wiggle a bit and find a fit."

On a side note....while WDW rides are very accomodating, it's tough to find clothing in larger sizes at the shops. I've always thought this was strange.
To be so good in one way with the rides, but so limiting in an area where people spend money!

One thing I noticed is that clothes just fit "different" at WDW than they do at home. Maybe they just accommodate chubby people up here better, but I can buy an XL in the store and it'll fit fine. But an XL at WDW fit like a large would here. And then when I moved to the 2XL, the sleeves came half way down my forearm and just looked silly. Needless to say, I only came home with a baseball cap and a sweatshirt from that trip.

I just returned home from a 10 day trip and I rode everything. I am 5'10 375. The only problems I had were the tilt-a-whirl in AK, it threw me around alot and I got several bruises, and a couple of the turnstiles. But I didn't have any problems on any of the big rides, including SM or EE. As for clothes I found several 5X shirts in World of Disney in DTD and MouseGears in EPCOT.

Well, you rode it with no problem, so do YOU think you can again? Sure, stay off the ride and eat a Mickey Bar while you wife rides, soley based on what I said.
