recommend it? It seems like every post I find on SoA is negative. How has this been going on for years if it's just okay? If you've been to it with kids, did your kids like it? I'm debating this show for upcoming trip.

We were there on Dec. 22....DH, DD13, DS9, & I all had a great time. Great food & show! (Aren't you the DISer I was corresponding with last fall about our Christmas trips???

My family enjoyed it. The food was good and the show was entertaining. I'm glad that we went.

We went 2 years ago and we enjoyed it. I thought the food was good as well as the entertainment.

Yep I am! :wave2: It's nice to see you again!

I'm glad to hear you and your family enjoyed it. We might do this next year.

Hi to you :wave2:

We did enjoy it & will probably go again in the future...but not soon. It was our first dinner show, & we want to try the others. We have an ADR for the Hoop de Do Review (how do you spell that!!?) this summer.

How was your dinner at Jiko?? I ask because we're spending a night at AKV this July.

Jiko was excellent but DS 10 and DD 7 didn't like it at all.
HDDR was hilarious. Kids LOVED it and want to do that again next year for sure. I told them the show stayed the same but they still want to see it again.

We went to Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show in 06. Show was entertaining. DD and DS got to go up and do the hula onstage with all the kids. Food was good. I really liked the salad and bread. We may eventually go again but as PP stated, there are a lot of dinner shows and I want to try others. I would go at least once to this show and give it a try.

We do both the luau and HDD each year. They are both good in different ways. You are right that it wouldn't be around that long if it were as bad as everyone here says it is. While the HDD is funnier and more fast paced we find the Luau to be relaxing. Both have excellent service and we think they both have good food. Coming from the Midwest a Luau just isn't something we can see everyday. We also enjoy the dancing. The fire guy is great. HTH:)

We went for the first time last September during Free dining and it was good. We had to go to the later show and my DS (10) fell asleep on the table. So my only thing to say would be, if you have kids go to the earlier show. The food was also very good. It will be a couple years before we do it again but I am glad we did it.

Our family really enjoyed both the food and the show. We booked the second show of the day at the suggestion of another poster. Apparently, the fire dance number is more spectacular during the second show because it is somewhat darker out. As long as you are not traveling with little people who need to go to bed early, this may be something to consider.

We went last year, and my kids loved it! They were 8,6, and 2. It was better than I expected based on comments I had read here. I wasn't real fond of the meat, but I liked the rest of the food.

I am glad that I found this! We are traveling with 2 other families and spending time together and time apart. I have ressies for the Spirit of Aloha for just my family and I was starting to wonder if it was worth it to seperate from the group for a meal. After reading these posts, I am glad that I went ahead and booked the ressie! My girls aren't interested in the princesses so I thought this was a good choice for their "entertainment" meal. We are going to CP to see Pooh & Friends for my son. Now I just need to get him hooked on Pooh!:rotfl: He's a little too busy to stop and watch TV!:happytv:
