Does anyone watch the Brookhaven obesity TV show?

I watched a few episodes so far. It was sad to see the one guy say he thinks he should have his leg amputated. And the one mom who is trying so hard and both of her boys have the same problem as her. Anyone else watching?

I am fascinated by this show - It is done very respectfully, and really shows just how devastating extreme obesity is. You wonder how people can let themselves get to that point, and when you meet these people, you are heartbroken by their situation and how hopeless it is for some of them. :(

I remember reading that one of the patients featured tonight died recently - the 700 pound man who was bedbound for 9 years in a nursing home. It was too late to help him, apparently. :(

I missed the part about someone wanting their leg amputated. Was that due to lymphodema?

But wow - it's a powerful show! I hope they have more episodes in the future.

I was watching it, too. I'm really annoyed that people with insurance get kicked out so soon, yet there are people there for years and years and years on Medicaid who GAIN weight and they can stay! Why?! If they're not going to follow the program, kick them out and get people who are serious about following the program in there. With such limited beds, there should be no room for cheating. People shouldn't live there for years like it's a college dorm.

Yet, that woman who was losing all the weight was getting booted out by her insurance. She's doing everything right and getting punished and the losers in there get to just hang out for free like it's a hotel.

I always knew Richard Simmons was a phony jerk. I felt so bad for that guy who thought he was his friend. Hard lesson to learn.

I had very little sympathy for a lot of them because they acted like they were on some all-inclusive resort trip instead of somewhere trying to save their lives.
