Does anyone use points to stay at the Polynesian?

I am closing on 240 points at the Boardwalk next week, I can't wait. I plan to stay at the Polynesian next year and alternate between a hotel and the Boardwalk. It does not seem like people use their points to stay at the hotels - ie. Contemory , Grand Floridian etc. I was wondering why. Are the rooms at the Boardwalk that much better? I also want to know what kind of room I will get at the Polynesian will they give me a room overlooking the parking lot. We do not have a choice at these hotels.

Its pretty simple. You can get a one bedroom unit at BWV for less points then a single room at the Contemporary. Or instead of that week in one room at the Poly, you could stay in a two bedroom at OKW.

Kitchen, dining area, way, way more space, make using points at a DVC resort much more economical then using them at other Disney resorts.

Although what Rich said was correct, you do get more space with a studio or a one / two bedroom at BWV. I basically used the points at the Polynesian because I just love that resort and I would not be able to afford the trip we had without the points. You do get much more value to your points if you use them at a DVC resort. I do plan to use the points at other resorts though. We are just 2 adults and eat out all of the time anyway when on vacation.

Also, we requested a lagoon view and a balcony ( vs a patio)at the poly and got the requests.

Like Rich said, you get more room for your "buck" if you stay at the DVC resorts. Staying at the WDW hotels will eat up your points faster for a smaller room which does not have the kitchen facilities that you get with a DVC resort.

That said, I plan to use my points at some time to stay at the deluxe resorts. Why, because I want to stay there at the Poly, Cont Tower and Grand Floridian just once, and I can not afford the cash price they ask - especially at the Grand Floridian.

Most of all my stays will be at the DVC resorts.

We have stayed at the Poly and Port Orleans, mainly because we had an unexpected week off and we could not get ressies at OKW or BW. They were nice but as Rich said it does not have the space and Kitchen as DVC resorts. Between the two we liked PO much more because it seemed more relaxed and quiet and Poly was more rushed with alot more people running around. The only advantage with using points for other resorts is that they always give you the prime views for the rooms that you get. We will use it as a last resort but we always try for OKW first.
