We just bought a new mattress and since it's new, it's a little firm. It's much better than our old one but would like to soften it up a bit. I just don't know what to get. There's 2, 3 and 4 inch, higher ILD, etc etc etc.

I don't want to spend a ton of money.

If you have one, do you like it, what size is and where'd ya get it?

We got ours at Sams and we love it!

We had an older mattress that was getting harder with dips ....

My husband has a weak back and used to sleep with his knees up all night - no longer.

Ended up buying them for my adult kids, too.

Another way to go is check if you have a return policy on the mattress, then get a softer one.

What's the thickness on yours? Our sam's had 2 diferent ones and we were thinking about the thinner (Cheaper) one.

Check out smartbargains.com or overstock.com.

We purchased a 4 inch topper to extend the life of our 15 year old mattress set. The addition of the topper made our current set feel just as sweet as the expensive ones we were trying out at the stores.

When we finally get ready to invest in our next mattress set, I'm not going to upgrade to one of their fancy smancy memory foams toppers. I'm going to purchase their basic model and pickup another 4 inch foam topper.

Ours is either 2 or 3 inches, and I love it! I'm not sure where DH bought it. I know Overstock.com always has a bunch.

Got ours at Costco and the bed feels like a great boutiqye hotel feel now. It is only 2 or 3 inches thock. Even that thickness is HEAVY.

Thanks. I've been doing some research and I think a 3 inch would be the minimum. The only troubling thing I've read is that they can get warm because they don't breath like a regular mattress does. They recommend putting it in a case or using a mattress pad over top of it.

It's amazing the price range for these things. I think I found one (a king 3 inch) from a store on ebay that's about $150 that I might get. Overstock's has pretty good reviews too and their shipping can't be beat. Their prices are another thing though.

Ours is from Sam's....that mattress is now on our guest bed, and unfortunately it's too comfy! :lmao: Who wants their guests too comfy? They might stay too long....

Anyway, be careful with getting one too thick...You want to be able to buy sheets that will fit on top of the mattress and the foam layer without coming off the corners (always annoying).

hmmmmm! I woulda put $ down, that you were a water bed dude!:lmao:

I did a bunch of research when I got ours. I read that min. 2inches and max of 4 inches. More than that and you lose the benefits of the mattress underneath.

We have a 2 inch and love it. My parents have a 2.5 inch and I want that one!! We and they bought it on Overstock.com and they were both under $100. WORTH it. Ours is a year old and hasn't needed to be replace. The one before that was cheaper and we replaced it after a year.

We have 3 inch thick one we bought at Target. It came with a washable cover. It has made a huge difference (we got it for our camper bed with was super uncomfortable). Target occasionally has sales on them which makes them more reasonable. The thinner ones just didn't seem like they'd make much difference.

I would be leary of ordering one from ebay (or anyplace on line). This thing was SO heavy. I cannot imagine what it would cost to ship it.

Does anyone have a fake temperpudic memory foam bed to begin with? I'm thinking of getting a topper to put over my bed which is a Princess memory foam bed. Hahahah

We do. They make a world of difference. We also switched to an air matress from a traditional one (though not the "Sleep-Number" bed) and that was also a huge improvement!

We got them for the whole family from Linen and Things using their 20% coupons. You can also use Bed Bath and Beyond coupons there. Kids love them and it made a big difference for them.

I have had several of them. I tend to get rid of them after a year due to allergies. I always got one at BJ's and they had the cushioned toppered to enclose it in. This time I went to Linens's and Things with the BB and Beyond coupon of 20% off and got there Homedics one. I went with the 2 inch one with the cover in down, and the reason I went with down is so not to sweat in the winter etc. It makes a good amount of difference which one you go with. I also like to have the cover, it helps from slipping. But I find you get to clam-ey if you do not have a good cover. I paid $250 with 20% off. and love it!

I got a 3 inch one from Overstock and I love it! I shopped around quite a bit before buying mine and read alot of recommendations that you get at least a 3 inch, so I went with that and found Overstock definitely had the best price.

Only problem now is, when I stay away from home I have a hard time getting comfy and really miss my Memory Foam!
