Does anyone use Dramamine?

I get very motion sick, but I do ride ALL rides...

In the a.m., (we are rope drop people) on the way to the park, I take out the tablet of Bonine, and break it in half. Half goes to me, the other half, to DD. Its just enough to keep me from getting motion sick, but not enough to make me sleepy.

I do this for airplane rides too (unless I want to sleep, then I take a whole tablet).

My kids take a half a dramanine when we fly- go on car trips.

I have to take 2 for it to work on me.

But I don't do ANY travel w/o dramamine. i actually ALWAYS carry dramamine in my purse. It's been an essential tool of survival since I was like 5.

However the only ride tha tmakes me even a little sick is Soarin. Or mission space but i woudl never go on it.
Oh yeah and star tours too.

All teh thrills rides don't get to me.

This question has no bearing on the topic but where do you get the WD signature with the countdown to how many days before your trip?

I absolutely use Dramamine. I take the non-drowsy 24 hour type every morning before arriving at the parks.

One day last year, I forgot. Fortunately, the sell Dramamine at one of the shops on Main Street in the MK.

Even with Dramamine, there are certain rides that I'll never attempt (Tea cups), and never do again (Astro Orbiter).

Just click on a ticker you like and it'll take you to the website to make it. Then copy the link for your ticker and go to User CP at the top left of your screen here on the DIS and edit signature.

When we were kids, Mom gave us chewable Bonine. It had that cherry-medicine flavor. It got stuck in your teeth. It was gross.

Whenever I see the word "Bonine" I remember that awful taste. The mere thought of it makes me sick! I definitely can't take it as an adult.

My 8 year old gets very bad motion sickness on long car rides, planes etc. I give him 3/4 of a Dramamine pill (he gets a little sleepy) and it works great.

He sometimes gets sick on rides (if he goes on more than once in a row). However, last year we took him on Rockin Roller Coaster and he was very sick after just riding it once. Thank goodness they sold Dramamine at the park because he was so sick he was not able to get on the bus. Fifteen minutes after taking the pill - he was fine!

Ginger tablet...you can get tehm at Wally World...and a Bannana...Bannanas are good for naseau and good on your stomach before a ride like MS...I hate rides that go round and round but with the Ginger and Bannana's I have no issues whatsoever...take about an hour before you will ride

Never tried it at WDW, but used Bonine on a cruise a few years ago. I didn't know if I'd get seasick, but I took a Bonine as insurance. No problems at all.

I may give the Bonine a shot next time at WDW because I've had to avoid some attractions like EE that I really like, but leave me with a weird feeling afterwards. :earsboy:

Some may laugh but this has worked for the women in my family for years.

We have some kind of tight bracelets. They are a woven material over elastic, I guess. There is a small plastic knob inside that sits over the two small bones in your wrist. I think they are called Sea Bands? My mom swears by them! They have helped me too. It has to do with pressure points and it's not something you have to take internally.

Some may say it is all in your head, but if it works, who cares?

My Sister-in-law swears by them, and convinced me to try them. Nothing!
I even would use my other hand to press down on the knob to see if that would help. Again nothing! A big waste of money for me.

Dramine works for me. Also, sucking on peppermint candy or smelling peppermint oil extract works too.

I think it is wdwpath.com or something to that effect. I will have to check.
It is free. You get the code and post it in your UserCP signature.

However, I must have done my wrong because all my posts even ones that I did years ago have the exact same countdown date! :confused3

Most people have the countdown date that changes with each new date they post. So, anyone can actually see the progress. That is what I would like but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Help! I even tried creating a new thread under Disney Trip Reports for help - but noone responded - that has been over a month ago and still no help.

I get terrible motion sickness and I was recomended:

1) Take a motion sickness tablet (different brand names here), if the dose suggested makes you drowsy, give yourself a lower dose. If I take two (like the packet says) I am out like a light, with one I am a bit drowsy (therefore best on days with a lot of movement) if its only a short amount then I only take 1/2.

2) Make sure you have food in your stomach, often the sloshing of acid in your tummy without food will make you feel a lot sicker. I used to not eat before going to theme parks, I have learn't the error of my ways, a light breakfast is perfect.

3) Ginger is really meant to really help, never tried it, but it is on my to do list!

LOVE DRAMAMINE!
I get motion sickness, car sick, ride sick, plane sick, seasick, you name it. But I take a dramamine (I do not get drowsy) and I am feeling great and ready to go. No motion sickness for me!

The only thing I have found that works for me is a prescription patch that you put behind your ear. Sorry I cannot remember the exact name of it, but your doctor should know. As I said it is only available through a prescription. I will never go on another Disney trip without them. You put it behind your ear the first day you get there and it lasts about 2 or 3 days then you change it and put another on. It is totally water proof and the only side effect I have noticed is that you do get dry mouth, so remember to always have something to drink with you. I was even able to do the teacups last year! I would never have been able to even go on the carousel before I used this. It is great. Though I still felt a bit queasy on EE because of the backwards part. I made it through without getting sick.

I take Less Drowsy Dramamine, and it works well against motion sickness. Still made me a little tired when I was sitting down for shows and stuff like where I wasn't moving around. So I suggest taking it the night before when you are about to go to bed, because it lasts 24 hours. I still felt "funny" the next day, but it was easier to stay awake.

I used to until I tried ginger pills. The ginger works like a charm and it is natural. :)
The dramamine worked for me, but made me sleepy. I don't have to worry about that with ginger either - another plus. :)
