i know, i know it sounds ungrateful and just plain crazy.

but i have booked a 12 night stay in kissimmee for the end of feb and at the moment i feel that i can't face going.

i have been twice before - and this is what i have dreamed about since i come back in sept 2003 - going again.

now i am all booked up but i feel that it is all too much for me.

Why?????

maybe i am over anxious because of that long old flight - it makes me feel yucky.

Help - Please!!!!!

thanks,

xjx

Aww! once you get there it'll be fine and you'll have a wonderful time!

I'm going for the very first time in May just me and DD age 8 and yes I'm worried -I'm worried I'll get to Chicago and imigration won't let me in -stupid I know, worried I'll not find the desk to get my boarding pass for the connection or we'll miss it and end up in Chicago airport for the night. That the town car driver will forget to pick us up. I'll get to the hotel and find we don't have a room, we'll sleep in the first day and miss our breakie with Cindy in the castle. I'll have seriously under estimated how much we'll need for spending money. My credit card will get refused, I'll find out my new nationwide flex account card isn't accepted in any cash points so we'll be desitute and yes I have thought is it going to be worth it...........BUT I do know once I see the look on DD's face the moment she spots the castle and finally gets to "go disneyland florida" it'll all be worth it and nothing is going to go wrong at all

I know what you mean. I get the same before any holiday as I dread the flight because I don't like flying and it is a long flight. This is true the first time we went in April the alarm went off and I was praying DH wouldn't hear it as if we missed the flight we wouldn't have to go. :rotfl2: I also spend weeks before worrying about the dog having to go into kennels  When we went in September I was dreading it before we went incase it was not as good the second time and it was only a few months since we had come back.

Don't worry, I am sure as soon as you get there you will have a fantastic time. :)

Great Post

I actually know what you mean, I am not the best flier and do get very nervous sometimes and wonder whether all the stress of the flight and everything is worth it.
However, once we are on our way and especially when we arrive I love every minute of it, any inconvenience I feel before is quickly forgotten about....so do not worry there are plenty of people who feel the same way, I wouldn't want to change though it is just the way I am.
And the holiday at the end of it is well worth it.

Having been many times there is a feeling of familiarilty about Orlando now and whether we should be trying something new, but although there are other places I would love to go Joshua has such a fantastic time I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.

It's very normal. I think everyone gets anxious before a big trip, even those who aren't afraid of flying.

I always get stressed before trips, even though i've been traveling since birth and i know the drill really well. I still get nervous and anxious about everything and nothing. And it even sometimes takes me a day or two to unwind once we finally get where we're going. But then i have a great time and find that it was worth the effort.

i'm coming back to edit this post. I was thinking about it and it's not true that i get anxious before EVERY trip. Trips that i have to take at the last minute don't make me anxioius. There are times i find out i have to fly in the morning and am on the plane crossing the Atlantic the same evening. So i never have time to get nervous.
The trips that somehow get me really all wound up are the trips i have months to plan...in other words, the trips to WDW......i guess it's the build up and the worry that everything will be just so...and worrying about all of us leaving the house empty for a month (and leaving the dog behind for a month) and on and on and on.....i'm probably making it even worse for you now...but the truth is, once it gets to the last few day, i'm better....once i'm in my war-room mode of having to get the last things done before the trip, then i'm better....and once we're at WDW....well....i can't be anxious once i'm at the happiest place on earth.....
although i've found that recently, in order to reduce the anxiety level, i've reduced the planning.....i have some things planned (a few meals and activities) but the rest we just do whatever comes along....the planning every last detail had me wound up the most....

I know what you mean. I look forward to my holiday, try and plan it as much as possible. Then right at the last minute I will do anything rather than pack, don't know why either because as soon as I start on my way I love it.

I do get anxious before my trips, I plan & save for so long there is always a niggling thought it might not be fantastic, but it always is! :goodvibes

I love to plan!! So maybe its because you have planned & looked forward to going for so long, that now its nearly here you may be down about not being able to plan or look forward to it anymore!!! Does that make sense???
Anyway if that is the case, do what i do & just start planning the next one even if its a long way off :)
I booked 18 months in advance & am constantly planning & dreaming & at the same time i am also working out dates & prices for 2007 & dont even know if i will be going then!!!! Drives DF mad :) :) :) :)

I am actually quite pleased that this thread has been posted because I was thinking of posting a similar one myself. Our trip to Disney is in April - over Easter - because of school holidays - we had to book late, because my employers were late confirming my hols and we're flying indirect via Amsterdam (6 of us inc a 6 and 2 yr old) so I'm worried about the flights. We,ve booked a villa in Windsor Palms - looks fantastic, but still a niggling doubt.

Hubby and I have been to Disney before but son and his wife and grand daughters haven't so they said - "we'll leave it up to you to book, since you have the experience" and now I'm slightly concerned that if it does go wrong it will be my fault..

But this is my family, we don't do blame and in the past we have always had fab hols in Orlando/Disney.......

Hi

I can see why your worried, but personally I am always excited to go away unless its this country and then I feel I cant be bothered to drive there, but I will happily sit there on a long haul flight :confused3

We got back in October and we planned to go in 2007, but I just cant wait that long, so I managed to persuade dh to book Oct 2006.

I love the planning, the talking about it and I wont be able to sleep with excitement for about 2-3 weeks prior like I did last year :goodvibes

Once your there you will love it and you wont want to come home. Once your home you may suffer with post holiday blues and to get over that you may have to book again. If you fancy a change book elsewhere. Have a holiday to focus on really makes our lives easier. Both mine and dh jobs are so stressful we just love going away and Florida is our no 1 destination and couldnt think of any other place we would like to go and have as much fun.

Have a great trip, trust us you will love it :love2:

awww - thanks guys for all your great posts.

i felt that you wouldn't 'understand' - but you guys have made me feel much better.

thanks again - you guys are great.

I get very nervous and anxious before going to Orlando, It's because of the 9hour flight, I'm not the worlds greatest flyer and get quite sick and sometimes even scared :guilty: . But as soon as i get off that Airplane I hear all those american's I feel so happy!!! :Pinkbounc .

I do get the blue's when i come back because im upset that the 2 weeks is over... but we try and book are next trip as soon as possible so that makes me happy again!! :teeth:

P.S - Cazzie, when are you going and how long for ?, As I'm going similar time, Ithink

For weeks before I go I have constant nightmares about every conceivable thing that could ever possibly go wrong (and some that would require divine intervention/changes in the laws of the universe to go wrong as well!) I hate flying and start to panic about that about 2 weeks in advance. I also start thinking that maybe my mind has made WDW better in my memory than it really was. For the first day or so of the holiday I was depressed but then it clicked and it was amazing again!

This may sound silly coming from a 'Yank' who only had a 2 hour flight to Disney in the past, but the way you describe your feelings are just the way I sometimes felt, too. Not every time, but sometimes, I would feel that anxiety about the whole trip, not just the flight itself but the entire experience.

You are not alone, as others have said here. Us Yanks get a bit nervous, overwhelmed and not-too-eager at times, too. So much rests upon it being 'the trip of a lifetime', it just gets to be too much sometimes. A long haul flight only adds to the anxiety.

Once you're here, you'll have a wonderful time (as you know!), and almost any complication has its solution. I hope there is some comfort in knowing even us 'close by' folks feel as you do sometimes. :)

I can agree with what everyone is saying, l also get very nervous before my holiday. Last year l took Kalms 2 weeks before to help with my nerves of flying, l just hate the 9hrs when your stuck in one place. I feel so claustrophobic :guilty:

But saying that as soon as you arrive on Florida soil, you soon forget your worries!!
