does anyone speak french?

i had to write a paragraph about my last vacation for my beginners french class. can anyone tell me if it's correct? of course, it's about WDW.

En décembre, je suis allé à Disneyworld avec ma amie, Gabbi. Nous avons volé en bas sur un matin samedi et resté au Caribbean Beach Resort. Sur notre première nuit là-bas, nous sommes allés danser à Downtown Disney. Nous avons dépensé le lendemain au Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Epcot est notre parc préféré. Nous aimons explorer tous les pays différents. Quand nous étions dans Epcot, nous avons mangé aux Chefs de France. C'était très bon. J'ai eu du tarte un la tomate et fromage de chevre, de la poulet fermier demi un la broche, de la purée de pommes au basilique et tomate braisee et du creme brulee. Gabbi a eu de la bisque de homard, les olives d'aux de poelle de thon et ldu salade des fruits infusee au le thé avec sorbet mangue. Nous avons déjeuné avec un Imagineer et avons été dits ce que c'était comme travailler pour Disney. Elle traitait la suite de Cinderella dans le château. Nous avons voyagé sur tous nos tours préférés. Notre favorites est Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Rock n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Nous avons eu beaucoup d'amusement et ne pouvons pas attendre de rentrer.

Sites like that don't work well because it ignores the meaning of the translation and gives the technical terms instead. Never count on sites like that to translate your paragraphs. It works for a few words, but nothing of this length

I also think it might be nos favorites instead of notre since you're talking about a group of favorite rides. It's been a while since I've taken French, but I think that's right...

Yeah clearly I wasn't suggesting it for a fluent translation. Heck even in the US there are different terms and phrases that mean different thngs depending on the part of the country you're in.

I feel your pain. I've tried using it for Spanish. I guess there are people who will check paragraphs for you, but you have to pay them?!

DIS is a much better option. Free advice and from lots of folks.

I used a site like that for my French class one year to check over an assignment much like the one here, lol. At first I trusted the site more than what I had and went through to change every thing I had until the translation came out clean. I handed in the paper and got it back...with more than a few red marks needless to say

Hi there
I'm a French teacher-and from what I can tell your paragraph looks pretty good...but I do see a few errors.

At the risk of offending, are you male or female? If you're female, there's a few extra minor changes.

For example, in the first sentence, if you're female you would say "je suis allée" with an extra E on the end.

Also in the first sentence, it should be "mon amie". Whenever the noun starts with a vowel, you use mon in the singular regardless of gender.

For your second sentence, I'm thinking you want to say "Nous avons volé samedi matin" and since voler and rester use different auxilary verbs in the past tense you have to end it with "et sommes restés au CBR"

Again, if you're female, for your third sentence you need to say "nous somes allées" otherwise, disregard this.

For the fourth sentence you may want to consider using the verb "passer" for spend instead of "dépenser" since that means to spend oney.

Fifth sentence is good
Sixth is good.

For the Seventh sentence, I would use à instead of dans EPCOT.

Eighth sentence is good.

For the ninth sentence I would say "j'ai mangé" instead of "j'ai eu" and alter your food explanations slightly. I'd say "du tarte à la tomate et au fromage de chevre", "du poulet fermier", "une demi brioche" (Is broche a typo?), and I think "de la crème brûlée"

For the tenth sentence I'd say "de la salade des fruits infusée et le thé avec le sorbet mangue"

Eleventh sentence- you may want to say "et elle nous a dit que..." (and she told us that).


Twelfth sentence-are you trying to say you were treated to seeing the suite? It might be easier to say "elle nous a montré la suite de Cendrillon (French name for Cinderella) au château."

Thirteenth sentence is good.

Fourteenth sentence- "Nos attractions preferées sont..." then your list and make sure you say "et" not "and" at the end

For your last sentence you may want to say "we had a lot of fun" instead of 'we had a lot of amusement" by saying "Nous nous (yes, two nous) sommes amusés (extra E if you're a girl) beaucoup et nous ne pouvons pas attendre rentrer"



I hope you didn't think I tore you apart there and I'm not guaranteeing I got everything but I hope that helps some Never ever ever use babelfish unless you're going from French to English to figure a sentence out you don't understand...or to look up a word you just can't remember the term for. Otherwise you end up with crazy stuff you wouldn't normally see.

I once had a kid do an entire autobiography using Babelfish...and I knew before I had finished reading the first sentence. Anybody who has taken French knows we say "je m'appelle..." instead of "mon nom est..." but that's what Babelfish will give you.

thank you so much! i knew there were a few things i was off on. we just learned past-tense, so i'm still a little confused about it.
