Does anyone sleep in "real" pajamas/nightgowns?

When I was growing up, (50's, 60's, 70's), we always wore pajama sets or nightgowns, and when my kids were younger, they always wore cute pj's.

Now we sleep in flannel pants, tank tops, old t-shirts, sweatpants, and if it's really cold, (and in Maine, that's a sure bet), I'll wear old sweatshirts to bed.

I didn't really give this much thought, except that we, (myself and 2 daughters), went on a short trip with my mother. We were all getting ready for bed, and my mother came out of the bathroom in a silky nightgown. She looked at the rest of us crawling into bed wearing an assortment of tanks, t-shirts, sweatpants, shorts, etc., and said, "Aren't you guys changing? Are you wearing your clothes to bed?" hahahahahaha!

Anyone still wearing matching pj sets? Well, I don't mean it negatively, I'm just curious! :D

Funny thread!!! LOL!!!

No 'Pajamas' here.
When they start making PJ's that are as comfortable as an all cotton tank top, then I might consider it. They all have uncomfortable scratchy stuff, or elastic, etc... And if they aren't all cotton, they just don't breathe enough!!!

It's a 'comfort' thing!!! :D

I wear "nightshirts". And yes, they are designed specifically for sleeping. I'm not comfortable with anything on my legs and I hate long gowns (and long sleeves).

Nope...flannel pj pants and old tshirts here too!! Love my cotton!!!!

I wear Lands' End Knit PJ every night.

DH wears old t-shirts and "comfy pants" (like the flannel pants, but lightweight)

They only time we wear "real" PJ's is Christmas eve, and that's just so we look good for the Christmas morning pics :D The rest of the year we wear flannel pants, & t-shirts.

I haven't worn a nightgown in many years.

YES!!!!
Honestly I have a "pajama fetish" I love matching pajamas. The other day at Target I found these cute Disney Pajamas in pretty spring colors with Mickey on the tank top and pants.
I also bought pajama sets from the Disney Store.... OMG THEY ARE SOOOOO COMFORTABLY SOFT. The house shoes feel good also :flower1:

edited to add: I can only sleep in pants or short set pajamas. Gowns tend to make my hot flashes worst for some reason.

We all wear PJs here. Except hubby who only wears PJ tops--doenst like anything on his legs.

Kids wear PJ's, I go buff, and DH wears a t-shirt and boxers. ;) Around the house I wear sleep bottoms and a t-shirt but I can't sleep in clothes. When I turn over they get all wrapped around me and they irritate me to the point where I can't sleep at all. I don't know what I'm going to do when E gets older and is able to come into our room. I'll be miserable.

I wear really nice gowns out of cotton...the silk /satin were for my younger years, but now where a fall might actually cause an injury, I have to think ahead...Would I like the paramedics looking at me in this??? Ok, if I was thinner...yes they would!!!!

I like the long ones, because I am usually making lunches in a nightgown...plus I think it's fun to have nice (but modest) sleepwear...

Come on buy nice sleepwear, the guys in customs/airport security are sick of looking at thongs!!! :earseek: :earseek:

I have two sets right now that are "real" pjs. Love them both. One has long sleeves, the other short sleeves. both are long pants.
I wear other things too that are not 'real' pjs. Like tshirts etc in the summer.
Funny how things change isn't it?

Cathy

I wear both. I have some pajama sets that I just love, plus I have an assortment of nightshirts. But I also wear sweats and T-shirts or sweatshirts to bed also. I very rarely wear anything that isn't cotton, though. A couple of my pajama sets are satin, but that's it.

I'll wear pjs, nitegown, nite shirt, shorts, tee shirt, whatever. I'm not fussy.

Same here!

I sleep in extra large tee shirts (not designed to be sleep shirts). DH sleeps in his underwear. The kids sleep in pajamas, but if there are no clean pajamas, they will sleep in large shirts, which they prefer in the summer.

I am almost 32 years old and I have never worn flannel or sweats ONLY because I sweat too much when I sleep. I can not have anything Long Sleeved or Pants. I always throw blankets off (while I am asleep) and end up with just the top sheet on me (when I wake up). I have some really cute night gowns (disney of course) but they are too my knees at least but not the silky material. I have several sets of silky 2 piece PJ's sets, they are shorts and short sleeves or no sleeves. So I don't know if I qualify as "real" pajamas or not... DH sleeps naked unless he is sick then he sleeps in pants and a top set.

I love Disney pjs! I have a bunch of nightgowns and pants sets. Can't locate my Tink slippers, but that's another story... When I don't feel like making the effort, I wear t's and sweats. I just bought a pair of cotton-ish Tink pj pants from Target, on sale, for about 9. I've seen people wearing these outside, but I only drooped my kids off to school in them (stayed in the car). DDs only have Disney pjs from me. DH wears t's and sweats. Maybe I need to compromise & get him some Mickey sweats....

I sleep in lounge pants (flannel, fleece or otherwise) and a t-shirt or sweatshirt in winter. Shorts and a t-shirt in summer. I don't think I've owned actual pajamas since I was about 12.

DS sleeps in lounge pants or boxers and a t-shirt.

DBF sleeps in his undies.
