Hey!

I always read posts of people getting up at 6:30....and it makes me think abou whenever my family goes to WDW! We rarely get up earlier than 9 and most of the times we are not out of our room until 10:00. My parents and sister always say how since they are on vacation they want to sleep late, and I kind of disagree but then see what they mean.

I've never been to a park opening or early entry and hopefully if we go this summer (which will probally be our last *family* WDW trip), I hope to get up early and be there from the start.

I would love to sleep in late, but I find my vacation seems longer if I do the early thing. So we do. But this time we will have my DD and her friend (both 14) who are notorious late sleepers. I have a good feeling they might be sleeping until noon and not at the parks until 1 or 2 everyday. Fine with me - DH and I can get up early and do what we want. :D

yup -- we have the same timing as you.

dh refuses to get up early on vacation. i automatically wake up by 8 every morning, so i usually just walk around the resort taking pictures, or watch tv to help get him out of bed.

I'm always up by about 7:00 when I'm at Disney World, and most days, I'm on the go until late in the evening. When I go to Disney, I want to pack as much action in as I can. To me, Disney isn't a relaxing kind of vacation. If I want to relax, I'll go to the beach, or a spa, or something.

hi Pkdcoastrs......read my thread "letting them sleep in as opposed to "Rise & Shine"& you'll get lots of different answers to this question.....

When my cousin and I visited WDW as two, single 20-somethings, we slept in til 11 every day! Then we'd have a late breakfast/early lunch and then hit the parks, staying as late as they were open (including a couple of e-Nights). We went at a very non-busy time of year (early June) and had no problem with lines, etc. This was just the schedule we ended up on and it worked great!!!

Now, with three stepchildren, we get up at WDW as soon as the sun rises since everyone's so excited to get started. LOL! How things change...

We go in early December when there's no crowd at all, and we get up when we get up. I'm a naturally early riser, married to someone who isn't, so I get up and get the tea, and usually take a walk and a shower before DH gets up. We're just much happier waking up on our own. I don't set an alarm clock or leave a wake up call. We've been to WDW many times (25+), we're in our 50's and we aren't "commando tourists". I want to relax on my vacation!

I have never been a morning person, even when I am at WDW.
I have had 8 visits so far, 4 of them with my DH, and now 4 solo vacations. ( DH prefers not to vacation anywhere! )

When I am at WDW, even solo, I don't use an alarm clock, or a wake-up call. I get up when my body tells me to get up.

Now with my 4 solo vacations, it seems that my body naturally wants to wake up around 8:00. Then I make a cup of tea, take a shower, and have a leisurely HUGE buffet breakfast.

Sometimes I don't get to a park until 11:00. All of my vacations have been somewhere within the first two weeks of December, so I can afford to get to the park late and still get to do everything that I want to do. It works out perfectly !

Sorry. I'm one of the nuts who gets up around 5:30 every day. Come about 7 AM, I'm loaded for bear. We often take a newspaper and bagel and sit at the gates around 8 AM. I've been first in line several times. That's not some commando-touring strategy. I'm just up anyway and can't think of a cooler place to read the USA Today. Can you?

However, in watching old video, we went to PI and closed it three years ago and slept until 8:45. Now baby, that's living!

When its just the wife & I, we get up whenever and do whatever. It just depends on where were going and what we want to do. We always go early to AK, but we can wait until 11 if going to WS.If we have the grandkid we get up and get going. The whole time thing depends on what makes up our party and what our "plan" is for the day.:bounce:

We do!!! The last trip we went with my family and got up early everyday(around 7am) and it killed me, I went home exhausted- never again.

Usually when we go the earliest we get up is around 9am or so. This upcoming trip we have all breakfast PS scheduled for around 10-10:30 so we can sleep till we wake up, which will probably be around 9- 9:30. The only day we'll get up early is when we go to AK, so we can ride the safari when the animals are active.

I love to go to DTD or Epcot and then the Boardwalk at night, especially when it's warm at night. And when I woke up early I was too tired to enjoy myself at night.

Not saying one way is better then the other, sleeping in is just the right way for us. :)

True confessions time!

Our family motto seems to be "We can sleep when we're home!" so we're up with the earliest of birds when we're on vacation, and go home "when the last gun is fired!"... so we really need a vacation from our vacation!

Yes, we're all pooped by the end of our WDW stay... which is why we always book a condo on the coast for a week to recuperate! (Then, we always sleep in!)

We never get up early! We are on vacation and the last thing we are interested in doing is going commando through the parks at dawn! We usually wake around 8:30 every day. We either go to the pool for a couple of hours or if we are heading to the parks we get there after 10am. I guess since we go to WDW for about 30 days a year we can do this. I remember how not so enjoyable it was many years ago when we too went nuts going to the parks so early. It was miserable! Our trips now are so relaxed and so much more enjoyable then when we ran from park to park.

i've traveled to disney with several different family members and everyone does it differently!

when we go with extended family, or my mom, we're expected to get up early and are usually back at the resort fairly early, 9pm ish. my kids and i didn't always 'cooperate' and i often found that mom had already had a shower, breakfast and a swim by the time we got out of bed. very frustrating for her!

when dh went with the kids and i, we were out at about 11am, and back by 9-10...dh isn't a night owl usually. but, after he flew back home, the kids and i started the day between 10-10:30 and stayed out til 12-1am! there is so much to do, we always went to dtd after the parks closed and dh kept leaving voice mails that said, 'it's 10:00, where are you?', 'it's 11:00, why aren't you back in the room?', 'it's midnight, lee, what are you doing???'.

bottom line, i'm not a morning person, even at wdw! 14 yo dd and i have decided though, that we will really, really try to get out of the room earllier on our november trip- we just need more time in the parks!

WE GO IN the summer and its very important to avoid the parks in the middle of the day--at least we think so!!
Although last trip we did EE every day, this year we will sleep in a bit on Epcot EE day and one day of MGM EE. I thind that will make our trip a bit more relaxing, but I also agree A Disney vacation for my isnot my idea of relaxing--actually no trip WITH MY 3 KIDS Iis relaxing!!!

My sentiments exactly! We can sleep at home! We hit the ground running VERY early in the morning - and don't go home 'till they kick us out at night! :p

I'm confused  Sleep in / Disney. I didn't know this can be done. Please don't tell my kids, I like to be the first one at the gate.

We sleep in a little bit. We get up about 9 or 9:30 and hit the parks about 10. We go in the off season so we always have plenty of time to do the stuff we want to. My kids would be so crabby if I woke them early to hit the parks.

Sleep in? Hmmmmm? Is 7:30 am considered sleeping in??

Before kids, I thought sleeping in was sleeping until 10am. With 2 DDs (4 1/2 and 19 mo), we are ecstatic to sleep past 7am!! Of course we also crach early!

For WDW, we are shifting 1 timezone east, so I am hoping to keep the girls as close to their schedule as possible, so that means an 8am or so wake up. I only have 1 PS for breakfast for that reason. Other days, we will eat in the room , adn hit the parks whenever. This trip is truly for the girls, and since I know we will be back, I don't have to fit it all in!

The idea of sleeping in "one morning" is appealing. I must admitt.....I'm one of those people who would rather sleep in back home! I'm so afraid I'm going to miss something if I don't get to the park before the chickens! :)

But after some thought and discussions here, I may just change plans and not do EE for Epcot. After all, as someone mentioned, Test Track is really the only ride opened for EE. And since we enter through the International Gatway, we can hit FT as soon as the ropes drop and with some luck, won't need a fast pass for it.

This is sounding more and more appealing as I type away!!! :)
