Does anyone shave a guy's face anymore?

We just got back from a great week at WDW and my wife and I were staying at the Swan. She was having a spa treatment done and I thought a shave and a rub down would be nice also. You should have seen the look of horror on the technicians faces when I asked about a shave. I was even willing to have a facial along with it.
Am I living in some of the older sections of the Carousel of Progress by thinking a shave and a rubdown is a good idea?
Does anyone know if the spas or salons at WDW resorts offer a shave?
Some people idea of decadence may be massage oils and candles; mine just involves a straight razor.

Frankly, I'd prefer to be shave number 5,443 of whoever is giving it to me (with a straight razor).

Not shave number 12.

I would think that there's not much demand for straight razor shaves in Disney, hence not much experience. I think you lucked out...

P.S. It's also possible your use of the term "rub down" (rather than "massage") is also what yielded the funny looks... ;)

Exactly what I was thinking... perhaps a more thorough description of the services which you were looking for could have been in order

Hah, I see your point on the experience level and expression. Showing my age, after all massage used to be what you had to explain. Maybe I should just get something waxed.

I would swear that there is a place for a shave. I have it written in my planning notebook for our last trip, but I can't find the notebook right now.

I'll subscribe to this thread and when I find it I'll post again.

Doesn't the barbershop on Main Street still do straight razor shaves?

According to my sister in law who is a stylist, only a licensed barber can give you a shave. It's a training and licensing thing. If they don't have a barber on staff, you're out of luck.

Edited to add: I think different states have different regulations, but most states only permit licensed barbers to do a shave, not costmetologists.

Interesting. On our last cruise (not a Disney cruise) we toured the spa upon boarding, and shaving was definitely a service they were pushing to us.

But the statement regarding licensing makes sense to me.

I was told no when I called to book a shave for my DH and DF at Main St Barbershop. Of course I wanted the straight razor type with shave oil, hot lather, and heated towel. And was very surprised that they don't offer this classic barbershop service - yet offer colored goo/glitter in kids hair? :confused3

Goo/Glitter stuff is I'm sure not harmful so no worry about liabilty insurance or lawsuits;)

My dad is a barber, and has been doing this for many, many years. I will ask him about this. Of course, we are in GA not FL. I would have thought the Main St. Barbershop would have offered this service...I am surprised.
