Does anyone sell on Etsy? I have a question.

Anyway, I just opened up a store on Etsy and was just wondering how long it has taken people to get thier first sale on there?

I am just trying to get a feel of what to expect.

Well, it really depends on how well you promote it. They have things call showcases and they can cost from $7 to $15. Your selection will be "showcased" at the top of the category (i.e. children, clothing, etc) and the $15, if you can get it, there is a link at the top of the first page. Like now, the category is for Father's day.

Then any advertising, like Facebook, is also helpful. I made a sale immediately, because the person that suggested I sell things there, bought one from me so I would feel "successful" LOL she's a sweetie.

I had a sale in minutes actually.
Use lots of tags for the items to show in a search. Good luck

I had our first sale within a few days. I agree with the use lots of tags philosophy. I will also say that what we sell is targeted at a specific audience so we use message boards in that community to promote our stuff (we have a lot of maker's boards and sales boards via livejournal and online communities) I also find that having a blog and blogging about your stuff with links to your etsy page is extremely helpful! Toot your own horn, others will listen!

Thanks for the info. I just had my first sale today! Lets hope it goes smoothly. I have gotten really good feedback of how its a unique idea and I am in 3 treasuries already. Although I have yet to see what that is all about.

Good for you! Sounds like you are off to a great start! How did you get on the treasury? I assume you get an email saying you are on there.

Well, I was on craftopolis.com and you log in with your Etsy user name and it listed the treasurey I was in. No one emailed me on the first one, but now I am in 5 more and the creators emailed me to let me know. I do personalized sandwriting photography and the treasuries were beach themed items.
