It's a very sad memory, and I've often wondered if anyone has been in touch with her after the horrible family tragedy last summer. :guilty:

A brief refresher..she was a proud, doting grandmother who had recently taken her oldest granddaughter on a Disney cruise. She posted a fun trip report with adorable pictures, as well as pics of her newborn granddaughter. A few weeks after the cruise, her DD and granddaughters died in a housefire. (The newborn 'Sophie' managed to survive a few weeks after the fire before she lost her fight.)

I think of them almost every time I see the purple ribbons in people's signature lines. I wonder about her son-in-law (who was at work when it happened.) It's probably the worst tragedy I've ever known to have happened to one family. I still sometimes pray for them. :sad2:

I have been keeping them in my thoughts and prayers over this past year, also. This is the anniversary w/e of their terrible tragedy -I just double checked the posts from last year and it was on 8/22. I hope that they have found strength in God, each other, and in their memories over this past year - and especially thru this w/e, as I'm sure it has to be especially difficult for them. I just can't even begin to imagine their pain and suffering as a family.

It has been an EXTREME bad year for this family - I haven't spoke to them for awhile because of the pain they were going through - this past Christmas was one of their most difficult time and remembering the past ones with them.
Lynda, Mike and David also have been heavy on my mind and I intend to call them this week. I believe Andy still keeps in touch tho - I held back because each time I called, they cried. I fixed Emma a basket for the cruise she took with her grandparents 2 months prior to the fire and the pictures were so adorable -
Anyhow when I speak to them again or anyone else for that fact, I am sure they will post it. I know they will sincerely appreciate this thread.
God Bless this family
Blessings always
Shirley

I've been away from the boards for a while, but I do remember Emmasgrammy. What I didn't know was the tragedy that had befallen them.
It's so horrible beyond words. I'm so sorry.

I wrote Lynda, Mike and David a note telling them this thread existed - If they write back, I will post what they have to say.
Blessings always
Shirley

I have also been thinking of them since I knew it was close to the time of the tragedy last year. I hope that our prayers have helped the family in some way. They have not been forgotten. I still hug my kids tighter since that day.

I also have been thinking of them constantly...I think they are in our minds so often, and we all pray for them.. :grouphug:

Me too. I think of them all the time. Their tragedy affected me so deeply...I cannot even imagine...

I am crying now, for their terrible loss. I was not here at the time, but my heart and prayers are that they may find peace.

I remember the horror of their story.... I think of them frequently too....

My prayers are constantly with them....

That is weird, I just though of them the other day too. I wondered what ever happened to them. I still get emotional when I think about it.

P.S. I used to have the purple ribbon on my post but somehow it got lost over he year, does anyone know how to get it back maybe as a memory of her.

As all of us remember Emma, Amanda and Sophie, let's make their deaths count for something by making a special effort to hug your kids and TELL them how much you love them - no matter how old they are. If they're teenagers, embarrass them, it's good for them. Call your parents and tell them how much you love them. Contact folks who have had a special influence in your life and let them know.

This tradegy reminds us that none of us are promised tomorrow so MAKE TODAY COUNT.

Her Typhoon Lagoon story is how I remember her. Such spunk and spirit.

I didn't know about her family tragedy :( , nothing pulls at the heartstrings quite like this.

Thinking of them :grouphug:

I lost it too, and do do bird here can not get it right...Can you please try to explain for me...Sorry.. :wave2:

I remember when I read her Typhoon Lagoon story, I laughed so hard that I cried. I can't remember ever reading a funnier story on the DIS Boards. And I thought to myself, now she sounds like a fun person!

It breaks my heart to think of the family's tragedy a year ago. I will say an extra special prayer for them tomorrow on this one-year anniversary. May prayer and time ease their suffering and help them hold on to the happy memories of better times.

I, too, have been thinking about the family :sad1: I had just joined the boards and was planning my own cruise--Emmysgrammy answered a question I raised. Hard to believe it's been just a year. . . .
Our prayers are with them :grouphug:
