Does anyone remember a blue peel-off face mask?

It's like a train wreck..it's gross but you can't help but look. One of my guy friends did one of those once and was torn between disgust and fascination when he peeled it off. :rotfl:

So TRUE! :scared1: :magnify: :scared1: :magnify: :scared1: :magnify:

:lmao:

I remember the blue mask. I alsways thought that's where Mel Gibson got the idea of the blue face in Braveheart.

/QUOTE]:goodvibes!! I remember it was a dark blue, a solid color no? Or am I thinking of Blue Man Group now and getting confused, only thinking I remember?

Shoot now I want some Pioneer chicken :lovestruc!!

I have a black one that I got at Sephora. It's called boscia luminating black mask. And yes I remember the blue one too.

Mel Gibson has something like 11 brothers & sisters. So, I think at least one of the sisters used to use the blue mask around the house and Mel probably thought that it would be a cool idea to swipe some of that onto his face for Braveheart.

But, I wonder if Blue Man got the idea from that, too? :scratchin

When I peeled off the mask, I had only areas where stuff came out of my pores, like on my nose. The rest was just dead skin cells coming off.

If it was the same for you, you can simply replace the mask with a microderm abrasion scrub to remove the dead skin cells, and use the Biore peel off strips for the nose & forehead. Now THAT is gross when you peel one of those off and see what was stuck in the pores! :scared1:

Braveheart is just one big long historical inaccuracy, even though it's a fun movie, but the blue face paint is actually one small itsy detail Gibson got right. The Celts used to paint their faces (actually their whole bodies) blue before going into battle. Trufax!

I used the blue peel off mask once - my whole face turned red & swelled up. I had to get a prescription cream to undo the reaction I had to that stuff.

I had a green one with the name Mint Julip in it...am I helping at all.

That might be the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque which they still sell...

I do remember that blue mask. My mom used to use it and I would sneak it as a kid for fun. I wish I could remember... I'll ask her tomorrow and report back.

As a kid, I remember coming home from the movies through the woods & there was an old woman in the middle of the road with that blue stuff on her face. My friend's dad stopped the car to see if she was okay - the kids in the car all wanted him to floor it & drive off :rotfl2:

My daughter uses the Queen Helene mask. I've been using Noxema for 44 years and still love it.

OMG - :cool1: I'm not the only one! i have been searching, in vain, for this product, for the past 10 years. I remember, it came in a glass jar and had a silver colored top, that was connected to a large brush.
One would dip the brush into the blue goo, and paint their face. I was so fascinated by this stuff, I think I went through my mother's supply every time she purchased some.
It had a very, distinct, pungent aroma. I am not certain but, I think it was L'Oreal, but, do not hold me to that, I was around 9 - 10 when I played with the mask. If, anyone remembers, what the product was, I would love to know, as well!
Then again, it was probably made, with all sorts of horrible chemicals, not approved by the FDA, and that, is why we no longer, find it on the market.:rolleyes1

I remember that stuff too! I wish I could remember what it was called. I also wish I could find any stuff that did that now. Everything I find is a scrub or regular mask, but no peel-off mask. :( It worked great!

There's a lot of peel-off masks on the market today -- I love those things! :) In the drgustore, Freeman Beauty and Montagne Jeunesse both have a line of peel-off's. Boscia's Black Lumizing Mask is awesome. I get it (along with the rest of the Black line) at Sephora. Queen Helene also has a peel-off line.

I remember being 9 or 10 years old, and my mom came into the living room with her hair up in a towel and her blue face mask on. When she started to peel it off, I began to scream in terror. I had never seem anything like it in my life! I thought she was peeling her skin off. Truly horrifying to my young mind. My mom laughed so hard she cried.

Wow, where did you dig up a thread started in 2005? :confused3

Always amusing when a newbie does this ;)

Max Factor blue peel off mask! It was the best! It exfoliated your face like none other! My face was so smooth & clean~ I can't understand why they discontinued it! Also, do you remember "Smitty"? It was manufactured by Coty & was an amazing shimmer scented lotion. BEAUTIFUL!~especially for the summer months! I LOVED it & of course that was discontinued as well. How frustrating that is when you absolutely love a product & it gets discontinued! I actually called both companies & ordered a case of each when I found out they would no longer be available! I sometimes still think of those products & wish I had them after all these years~ because that was back in the '80's!! Wishful thinking~Hope that helped~ ;) :confused3
