Does anyone PREFER 2nd Seating?

We also prefer late seating. I noticed several posters mentioned the cheese platter from room service. We usually went to the lounge (Cadillac on the Wonder) and ordered the cheese plate there. The bar tender went and picked out the cheeses for us and she really enjoyed trying us on different things. By the last night, she had a plate of our favorites waiting for us when we arrived for our pre-dinner coctail. We made sure to mention her on our comment form.

WE LOVE LATE....We are traveling with 3 kids, 12, 15 and 18...They are not early birds so the late is perfect for the teenage mentality.!!!

We have been on 2 cruises! one dcl and the other carnival. dcl is the best!!! :rotfl: We have done late seating on both. We ordered room service for a snack went to the shows and it worked out great. I would recommend it. even with children late worked fine. :flower:

A blissfully empty rainforest room at 6PM. I love late seating.

Dh and I are from the west coast so the late seating is more in the time frame of our usual dinner time. Plus we feel like we don't have to rush when we are in dock or at cataway. We will never do the early seating if we can avoid it.

Ok I have a question regarding the Pirate Party? My 11 yo dd and I are sailing on the May 8th Wonder and currently are signed up for late seating for all of the above reasons but I really want to be a part of the Pirate party. Why do you miss part of it if you have late seating and can you do anything about it like for example leave dinner early or something? Excuse me for my question but this is our first cruise :confused3

On our cruise a few weeks ago, we saw people get up and leave early so that they could catch the very beginning of the Pirate Night deck party. I believe it started between 9:45 and 10:00 on deck 9. My DW and I got up there about 10:15, and it was well under way.

Hi all,
I have second seating and I am wondering how long does Dinner take?
It starts at 8:30, so when are you outs there!
How long does it take to get an appetizer, a meal and maybe some desert!!!
Is there something I'm missing here?
Is it another "show"!!!!

We've always had late dining, and we usually got out about 10:15 to 10:30, but we also were some of the last ones to leave the dining room, not because our servers were slow, we just enjoyed the company of our servers and tablemates.

Same here, at home we usually have dinner around 4pm, but on the ship we enjoy the late dining time, go figure, LOL!!! We've been on three cruises, and have selected the late dining for each cruise.

Wow, around here were lucky to get everyone home from work/school/soccer/baseball by 7pm, then we can START thinking about fixing dinner.
As west coasters we've always had late seating, which is really early seating for our bodies.....but even on our Alaska cruise we had late seating. Kids love it, and it gives my son a chance to trade magic tricks with the servers after dinner. We usually had a crowd around our table on the Magic, and on the Amsterdam after dinner. DS was 16 on the Magic, so not a little kid....in fact, he turns 18 Wednesday!!!

I defenitly prefer late seating. It's just easier. On the boat, a 4:30 show cuts right into the middle of your day!! It gives you more time around the boat and on the islands during the day. :earsboy:

Thank you Verandah Man - you are always there with a good answer and I appreciate that. My dd and I probably won't linger too much after dinner mainly b/c she's not one to like to sit still for long even at 11 :hyper: so I will make it a point on Pirate night to sneak out by 9:30 or so in order to be there for the beginning of the party. No biggie right? Thanks again!! Oh one more thing does anyone know which night the party occurs? I thought I read the 2nd night??

I absolutely prefer late seating--much more quiet, no screaming kids, etc. Also for many of the above listed reasons--more time to get ready after excursions, etc.

The only downside is that many of the good programs in the Club/Lab take place during the late dinner. DD hasn't had any problem with programs in THe Stack--they are generally later and don't interfere with either seating.

I would have preferred the late seating because it is closer to the time I normally eat. I was assigned first probably because I am diabetic. I coped as it would have been a big hassle due to other needs. Next cruise I am going to ask for second when I book explaining that is would be less disruptive for me.
