Does anyone pick Values over Mods?

Having stayed at a value prior to ever staying at a mod, I know for my family we would not choose a value over a mod. We prefer the better theming, dining, rooms, and bus service that the mods have always provided us.

We've done both. I prefer value just because I don't ever hang around my resort. I rarely use the pool and we never eat there. However, I can't stand not having a coffee pot, so I'm going to have to figure out something there! ;) We figured it out, and, for our 7 night stay, it costs us somewhere around $500 extra to stay in the moderate last time. That will buy me a new coffee pot down there that I can just leave in the room, plus, lots of souvenirs.

We have, when we don't plan on spending much time at the resort. If you aren't going to use the amenities, why pay for them?

I personally didn't mind our stay at the Pop at all. I wouldn't hesitate to go back at all.

With that stated you can see from my signature that we are headed back to POFQ. This is due to several reasons.

I think that there is always a million and one reasons why someone picks the resort that they do. Affordability, personal preference, how long of stay, what type of vacationer they may be, etc., etc..

My DH and DD are the ones in my family that now refuse (unless we didn't have the funds) to stay less than a moderate at all. We all enjoyed the transportation options. fridge in the room, larger room size, pool slide, two sinks, etc., of POFQ over Pop.

DS and I loved staying at POFQ but didn't mind the Pop at all and would have no issues going back. It does have an awesome food court.

I would think too that opinions might differ if they had a great stay or not so wonderful stay at a certain resort too. I cannot say one thing wrong with Pop, but I can tell you from our visit to the All Stars, to see if we would ever stay there that unless we were in a preferred building, we would never want to stay there (at any All Stars). DD and I walked to the furthest walk at ASMU and found it, in our opinion, to be a much longer room than any of our walks around the Pop. As well we had a very long bus trip there and back from Downtown Disney compared to the Pop. Once again, this could just be our perception. We also had an awesome room location at the Pop which was in the '80's section close to the bus stops (by way of shortcut through a small part of parking lot) and the main building.

I hope I answered your question. Remmy:flower3:

Depending on the trip, I pick either Value or Deluxe over Mods.

For me, unless I'm going to pay for a Deluxe (I've only stayed at EPCOT deluxes) with their great pools and walking access to EPCOT and DHS, I'd rather go as inexpensively as I can and stay Value. For me, their is no significant benefit to the Mods over the Values, so I don't want to pay the extra.

For us it is POP. Reason....less money for basically the same room. Yes I know the die hard mod people say they are different, but not really. An extra here or there like the coffee pot mentioned above, but we don't use those extras. And it is just my husband and I so far, so plenty of room.

So to me why spend extra $ for basically the same thing???

Not to mention I love the theme of POP, it doesn't get much better for me. I love the sentiment about the resort and the bright colors. Just screams Disney to me.

And last the bus system can't be beat. The mods have multiple stops, AKL is known for slow buses.
The only thing I would like is to be on the monorail....but no way is it worth that much more money for me.

I stayed all over the place and the reasons have been:

where other family members are gathering
and $$

I was there just this past AUG and I knew I was staying DELUXE simply because it was a long break between vacations. (:cutie:My reward for helping kids with college expenses)

Maybe going back in 2011 and probably will do MODERATE

We did. We do not spend much time in our room. It is just the boyfriend and I, so we don't need much space. Just the basics are fine with us and at the end of a long day, the bed felt great to lay in no matter how much we spent on the room!

It depends on the trip. If I know I am going to be in the parks all day long, I will stay at a Value resort. No use spending money on a resort with a hot tub and pool slide if I am not going to be at the resort to use them. If I plan on having down days spent at the resort, I will spring for either a Moderate or Deluxe resort.

My next trip I actually down-graded from the Beach Club to the All Star Music. We won't be spending any time at the resort just hanging out, so no need for Storm Along Bay. Plus, the bus service at the Music is much better than the bus service at the Beach Club, in my experience.

In general, I do love the fun, in your face themeing of the Value resorts. But I also love the laid back feel of the Moderate and Deluxe resorts. Where I stay just depends on the type of vacation I am looking for.

It depends on my needs and how much money I'll have.

I much prefer the mods over the values but sometimes I just have to do value in order to go.

If it was just me going then I would pick a value over a mod, because I can get my bare basics at a value. I don't care about the pool, I can live without a whirlpool or gym, and honestly I'm a fussy eater and I don't have to have table service in my actual resort I like counter service. Clean, good bed, and a minimum of hassle and I can be happy. (I do stay at really nice places a lot, but I can adjust my expectations) About my only flat outs are Motel 6, Super 8, and the Days/Comfort Inn chain.

The rest of my family absolutly are not willing to stay very much below La Quinta or Holiday Inn Express. Heck it's a toss up if we can get them in some of the bargin chains. (prefered level of stay for the boys compitition BB team, although as the income level of the players has risen so has the hotel reservations LOL). They are very fond of better hotels.

I don't see enough extras at the mods to justify a big jump, but we're looking at POFQ or a Deluxe in Janurary because everyone will be happy at a Mod or better.

agree completely - really love Pop.

if I can't have my DVC then it is Pop or offsite.

I have at times, alot has to do on the price I can get. Since I don't stay in the room at all or really use many of the features at the resorts, if the discout is good like they are in DEC and I know there is a chance of alot of unsupervised kids in the vaules I will go for a MOD like CBR

The only reason we have considered mods is the queen beds. (We just can't swing deluxe right now). And only one mod has queen size beds. With kids the theming at values is much more Disney IMHO. The mods are beautiful but huge except for the Orleans duo. Someday when I can afford it we will stay at a deluxe - AKL for the animals or Poly for the monorail. But the values are a better deal and atmosphere for us.

We prefer to stay at Pop over the Mods.:goodvibes We stayed at CBR several times and didn't care for it, the bus stops at all the lands, if you're not at the 1st pickup you may have to wait or stand for on the bus the entire ride to the parks. The walk to the bus stops maybe a little shorter or the same distance when you leave the parks. (horse a piece)

My DW likes to stay at Pop, :woohoo:the difference in price pays for some of the gas, we drive from Green Bay, also she can spend more money on stuff she wants.:cloud9:

We never spend much time at the resort unless it's a down pour, we run tween the drops and still visit the parks thou,:dance3: less children and most of the rides are quicker to get on.:woohoo:

We always have a good time no matter where we stay.:cloud9:

We bought a 4 cup coffee pot (and kept the box) and take with us. I just leave in the suitcase just for when we travel does not take up that much space. Had a one cup with a carrier to travel but just to small for us.But your right they only cost $14 at most at Wal Mart anyhow. We have stayed from deluxe down to values and like the mods but they just getting to $$$ and we shop to much:guilty: Plus the bus service at POP just awesome also seen on this board there is a club that has a fridge and coffee pot and toaster that they take turns lending out and you have to sign up for your date of vacation and then they tell you how to give to the next person but sounded fun but all we need is coffee:surfweb:

We love POP! We were originally booked CBR for the first part of last trip but switched back to POP at the last minute. Our son loves all the giant statues, the food court is excellent, and the room size suits us just fine (this trip we actually had 2 connected rooms for 4 people so we had plenty of space).

We did a split between Kidani and Pop this past trip. So I will post positives and negatives of both.

Noise Level: Pop was somewhat noisy at times, and our rooms were not facing the pool. We did hear screams from children from time to time early in the AM and late at night. It wasnt too bad, but we could hear the noise.
Kidani - when in our 1 bedroom villa, we never heard another person so much as walk by our room. Never slept better.

Pools: Pop wins on the sprinkler kiddie pool - our son LOVED it - and we adults could just sit back and watch the kids play. Wasnt thrilled with Kidanis Kiddie water area, didnt seem like much of anything.
BUT the main pool at Kidani was better and our son loved the little water slide. But to us, the slide doesnt make or break the trip and we were also happy with the pools at Kidani.

Dining: Pop food court kicks butt over any other on property! There are sooo many choices, and everything is great!! Kidani doesnt have a food court, you have to go over to Jambo House, and Mara doesnt even compare to the Pop food court. There is a TS option at Kidani but the menu doesnt appeal to us so we didnt eat there.

Pool Bar - Pop pool bar stays open until like midnight which was great since our son played in the Kiddie pool till at least 10:30 most nights. At Kidani we were very disappointed the pool bar closed at 9PM.

Bus transportation - frequency of buses about the same. Do not like that POPs bus stop is always last at the parks. Kidani bus stops never nearly as crowded and are covered.

All in all, we very much enjoyed both resorts. We do love POP and will stay there again, probably as a split with a deluxe. The mods dont seem like that much more to me, Id rather do a split between value and deluxe than do a mod for the whole trip.:)

As another poster mention it depends on the kind of trip your taken. We went in 05 and it was our first trip so we had no plans of being anywhere other then the parks and for the most part that is exactly where we were. I think we used the pool twice the whole 8 days we were there.
Then this last trip we stay CBR and we used the pool 6 days out of 8 and another 4 times at night. The resturant there is awesome as well as the food court.
I didn't care for the bus system there much but it is a very pretty resort.
All in all I enjoyed both trips equally. The only way I would pay deluxe is if it was just DH and I and we weren't planning on being in the parks much.
The only different I found was the extra things to do around the resort. Other then that the values and Mods are equal in what you get in the rooms.
If you plan to be out and about go value, they are pretty and fun atmospher to come back to at night, but if your going to be spending more time at the resort itself using the extras then that where one would stay.
