Does anyone only stay at their home resort?

50% of the time we are home.

We stay primarily at our home resort. We used to own multiple resorts, but decided we didn't want to stay at the others very often, so sold them off.

We own exactly where we want to stay - majority of the time at OKW, so most points there, a few days at VB so less points and a few days every other year at BWV (Boardwalk view only) so only a handful of points there.

The only time we've deviated from this pattern in our 10 year membership was last year when we had 5 nights at HH in October, which was probably a couple of nights too long for us!

As each of the new DVC resorts opened, we took a look at them all and we weren't tempted by BCV or VWL (despite adding on at OKW during this time) and we still feel the same. Equally, I don't intend staying at SSR.

Have only been an DVC owner for about a year and a half.

I bought at VWL because we always preferred to stay at WL when we were paying cash. VWL has never disappointed us and we love it there.

This past January, to try something new, and see what other people liked we stayed at BCV. I can't say that it was our cup of tea. We found ourselves missing VWL, and the peace of that resort, but what we did find ourselve liking was the proximity to Epcot and MGM.

Given the neighborhood, we preferred BWV, and so acquired an add on there.

This coming vacation in December we're doing a split stay, 4 nights at BWV and 4 nights at VWL. When we were planning it, there was great discussion as to where to start and where to end, the conclusion was ending with the resort we love best and find the most relaxing, VWL.

What you'll find is that tastes vary greatly, what we love about a resort is exactly the samething someone else will dislike and vice versa. Or, as the French would say chaqun son gout, or each to his own taste.

I always stay at BWV. In the almost ten years of ownership, I have seen all the other DVC resorts and been in many of the rooms. There are moments when I am tempted to try staying at another but I promptly have a drink to assure that I will dispense with such awful thoughts. BWV's location is ideal, the pool (and bar) are good, restaurants are right there, and you can walk to two parks.

As I said, I, yes I, always stay at BWV. I have, however unfortunate the task, had to order other resorts for relatives. My oldest daughter does not care for BWV. She -- and I cringe when I say this -- prefers OKW. I worry about what will happen to my two grandchildren who are being imprisoned by her, the black sheep of the family, at that place which is obviously the creation of the devil who is twisting the minds of those who visit there. Who can possibly want a true home away from home on vacation. Give me full hotel services. When she announced that she would stay only at OKW, I threatened to remove her from my will. Not only would she not listen, but she proceeded to form a conspiracy. She went out and bought points at OKW. Then my immediate and her family took a trip that I could not attend, and they stayed at OKW. When my wife returned, I recognized brainwashing had occured when she said that it was not bad and she could probably survive it again. Noting the conspiracy that was forming, I immediately declared that I, yes I, will stay only at BWV, so no one should bring up the issue again. My second oldest daughter, the one in college who also made that trip, then said a week later, "Dad, you know it really was not that bad, you might want to ...." I raised my palm to indicate silence and said, "Be careful, your college tution depends on how you finish that sentence." My youngest daughter, the 15 year old, has remained loyal and prefers BWV. Our last trip, sans the oldest and the one in college, was to BWV. But I am still watching out for the conspiracy as I have heard rumor that my oldest daughter is planning another one of those trips I might not be able to attend. Excuse me, I have to go find my will.

Very funny :thumbsup2 Sounds like you have some very discerning family members there ;)

We've stayed at all the WDW resorts except SSR...we own at BWV and OKW, but usually stay at BWV, with OKW our second choice. I find the units at BCV seem much smaller, and VWL is just too remote, so we stick with the two we own points at.

I have stayed at all the DVC resorts. all have wonderful stuff.

own at OKW, VWL and BWV.

generally end up renting VWL and BWV.

but that is just fine with me. I also rent some of OKW, but the majority of my points are at OKW. and it just feels like home.

the other 2 are nice resorts - but so far OKW feels like home. they still feel like hotels.

most people have a favorite DVC resort. It is best if that resort is your home resort. You will be much happier. Because at the 7th month if you can't trade then you will be fine. It may not be resort you wanted for that trip - but heck it is your home resort and you love it.

if you don't feel about your home resort that way. time to change it for the resort that you do feel that way about. Yes it will cost your money and time - but it is much better to be happy with your DVC buy, then to be upset and angry that you never get what you want.

All the DVC resorts are different. be sure the resort you buy you will happy with no matter what.

even if that means buying more than one resort.

since AKL is so much like WL - your husband might agreed to buy there as well (if this happens) - that will start add on.... just get him to go to BW one night after Epcot closes and mention how much you would appreciate staying in one of these resorts..... :rotfl: :goodvibes

We own all our points at OKW and stay there 90% of the time. We do stay at other DVC resorts for a night here or there, but much prefer our "home".

I usually stay "home" at the BWV, but once in awhile at BCV. (If I call last minute, I stay at OKW, using the BCV points.) BWV are "home"--BCV are just a visit. ;)

My goal is to stay at each DVC at least once.....

Also try some other places we can use our points at........
