Does anyone NOT plan

We go down three to four times a year and haven't planned anything in a long time. Just got back from a trip last week and did just what we wanted when we wanted. Loved it as always.

I know what parks I'm going to on each day and when I'm eating lunch and where that day and even which attractions I want to ride first and last. I made an itenerary. But now I'm freaking because I have an extra day. My whole plan is thrown off with only 17 days until departure!

we didn't really plan. We found out which parks had ee when we checked in and went from there. We never planned which rides to go first, or where to eat or anything. I think 'bumping into' the characters was really fun too. The only one we searched out was Cinderella and Belle.

We plan for meals only. We used to plan days out but the plan was usually changed once we got there:p Now we do what ever we feel like doing when we feel like doing it.

I get the general feeling that a lot of people need to do less planning the more often they go to WDW.

I have never been before and like 95% of first timers (probably), will be planning the trip in great detail. If we make this a regular trip and get to know WDW well, I expect there will be a lot of things I will know about and will be able to plan less.

From England, this trip to WDW is costing us a lot of money and I think for the price we have to do a certain amount of planning to make it worthwhile. I am sure I will enjoy it all the more if I do a lot of ground work now.

I did an absolute TON of research for our big family trip last year, but the only actual planning was the PS's for each evening. There were 10 of us, so we needed PS's, but everybody did their own thing during the day, at their own pace.

My research let everybody know what/where they could find what they wanted to do.

DH and I don't plan, but I DO obsessively read the DIS boards and look up restaurant menus, ride reviews, schedule of events, etc. Once we get to Disney, we just do whatever we feel like but will remind each other about things like, "Remember I want to see Alberta Bound some time today!"

We bought Florida Resident Seasonal passes in Oct and have gone 3 times for 3 nights each time since then. If we lived far away and could only do this once a year or so, I'm sure I would do a lot more planning!

But DH and I are kind of laisse faire (spelling?) vacation planners anyway--we like to read up on where we're going and get an idea of what we'd like to do/see, but we're pretty spontaneous once we get to whereever we go.

I thought planning was half the fun. What do you do to build the excitement and pass the time if you don't really plan?

Oh, well, I live my daily life. Excitement just happens for me.
I get excited about 2 days before the trip when I make my packing list.
In the meantime, I spend a LOT of time here trying to help others plan. Go figure that one out. LOL

I'm like 1HourAway, I don't plan either. I'm at the point where I can just take a seat on a bench someplace and just people watch all day.

It's fun to see what families are having a good time and which ones are doing a "commando".

PS at CA grille is the only plan we have when we go but some times not even that. We have been at Christmas, Easter, spring break, Thanksgiving, all different times of the year and never plan. We decided to go last Easter about 2 weeks before. I think it is a throw back to when we went and all there was was MK...no planning necessary. When EPCOT opened you could only make your PS's that morning at a computer screen...again no planning necessary. We have never had any problems and travel with a group of up to 9. It boggles my mind that people plan out each day at each park and all of their meals. It just wouldn't occur to us to plan like that.

Well, as of today I have 18 days before I get to Orlando from Vermont. I am spending two weeks in Florida. I have a total of 8 park hopper days that I can use. I probably won't use them all.

I just barely made my plane reservations today along with reserving a car. I will not even have a hotel reservation. I'll just find a spot when I get there. I am staying off site so I can cruise 192 and look for the best rate.

I have no idea what days I will be doing WDW or what park I will go to first. I will probably go one day to Universal, play some golf, maybe at Disney, maybe not! I will probably do some exploring of central Florida to the coasts, either one, maybe both. Who knows maybe even a side trip to the Keys.

I have found in the past that when I overplan, I end up getting disappointed about something and then frustration enters and the day is ruined. I realize not everyone can do this. My sister will start planning now for a trip two years from now. She absolutely obsesses about it. The less I plan the more fun I have. But then again I probably am goofyer n' most.

  :hyper: :upsidedow :scratchin :scared1:

We usually plan which park we're going to the night before, but that's about it. If I actually planned anything, my entire family would keel over from shock. :p
