Does anyone not "hop"?

We did the hoppers last year and it felt to me that we used it because we had the passes and even so we only hopped once. So we are debating it for this year. DH thinks we would be fine in one park all day. He said he thinks we missed alot the day we hopped because we should have spent longer in that park. We are only doing one character meal in the parks (epcot). I think it would still be nice to have that option. I can get 5 days hoppers or 7 day MYW base thru work. The difference would only be $110 less for the 7 day. But then that would pay for one of our character meals. WWYD? :confused3

Well, I am going with a large group and getting them around is slow going. On our last trip we hopped only once, so I am using that as a guideline. We are going for four days, so I think I am going to get a five day pass without the hopper--it will be cheaper for us.

WE have decided to not hop. We purchased 7 days base tickets versus the 5 days. Only a $5.00 difference. We figured that way we could enjoy ourselves and not worry about getting to another park.

We figure that the day we do AK (closes at 5) that we would go and find the main fire station for a tour and then go to DTD for the evening.

We always hop. We have been going every January since 99, and its nice to be able to go to another park if the one you are at closes early. AK closes at 5 pm in Janaury. So we always hop somewhere after that. We also try to avoid MK on days they are showing Spectro, but we like to hop over about and hour and half before it starts so we can see it. We like to spend the first half of our trips in January at one park all day. Towards the end of the trip, we like to hop so we can get at least another half day at Mk, MGM & Epcot before we leave.

hi Tiff -

These are my thoughts on PH options - though I probably only hop once or twice over the course of a WDW trip, having the OPTION to hop for a relatively small cost reduces my anxiety tremendously and allows me more flexibility with DS and DD.

Whether I USE the hopping privilege or not, I just am one of those folks who needs the choice day by day during my stay.

Hope this helps.

If you are saying that the 7 day base tickets are cheaper I would go with that. You would still be able to hop 2x and have $110 in your pocket. You would use an extra day on your ticket at the 2nd park on the same day. If you were only planning on doing 5 park days this would work out. (I thinK) Does anyone think different?

In my infinite trips in the 90's, I was def. not a hopper. This time may be dif. If I am at AK for most of the day w/ my DH and DDs, and its his turn to take Ariel back to the room early for bath and bed, I may want to switch parks if I can to see wishes, or illuminations, esp if these are an EMH evening that day ::yes::

I believe that if you buy a base ticket that you can only do one park each day.

I didn't even think of that!! :scratchin

Hey, you spell Tiffani the same way I spell my name. You don't see that spelling often!

We get the park hopper option for two reasons. 1. Dh hates AK and we never spend a full day there and 2 he and I make ADR's at resturants all over and so we might spend the day in Epcot but dinner is in MGM. We dont hop every day but most days we might be in more than one themepark.

No, you are not able to do that - if you don't have the hopping option, you cannot use your ticket for two parks on the same day. They don't allow you to "use another day" for a different park. Sorry!

Even though we are at DISNEY, there would be NO way that I could deal with the whining :scared: if we did not do Buzz and Pirates EVERY day of our trip. (Buzz for DS6 and Pirates for DH31!!!)
The first time I went with my "new" family (went MANY times with parents and etc) we did not park hop. Everytime since then we have hopped!! Mainly, I stress MAINLY, for food choice!!! We LOVE to eat and snack at EPCOT!!!

On our previous two trips, we hopped every day and I think we did it just because our tickets were called "hoppers"! This time we are going with the 7 day base MYW tickets and doing one park per day. It does require a little more planning to get the amount of time in each park that we want and see the shows, parades, etc. when we want to but I think it'll be fine. For the difference in price, I think I can manage a little more planning and research!

I think most people like to have the option to visit multiple parks on one day. Personally, it doesn't matter that much to me. We generally have Aps or hoppers anyway, but many times don't even bother going back to a park at night. For fireworks, parades, or having dinner in a different park, it's probably a good idea to have hoppers, but it wouldn't bother me to do one park per day. And $110 is a nice chunk of change also!

i second what someone above said about Epcot, if I could afford it I would get hoppers just so I could eat at a different WS TS for dinner each night. the food in the other parks is a bit unappetizing to me :scared: otherwise, i have always been fine doing one park a day. but if I could afford the extra $$ i would totally spring for hoppers!

Thanks, that is why I asked if anyone knew any different. In that case, I would still take the Base tickets and just do DTD or nice TS meal at Contemporary or AKL when AK closed early. My kids are young an I try to get them to bed at a reasonable time so they are not too cranky.

We had the base tickets and didn't hop. I never felt the need to. On our Animal Kingdon day we spent the evening at DTD. I didn't feel like we missed out on anything by not hopping.

This next trip I might buy the Hoppers though. It will be a longer trip and we just might want to do a little hopping toward the end of the trip. I'm not sure though. We'll see.

We don't hop. It's mainly a money thing for us. I'd rather spend more days there and that is cheaper than fewer days with hopping. I don't think we'd hop much anyway. Plus, there's so many other things to do around the parks, that the days a park closes early we just go to DTD or the pool or the Boardwalk area.
