We are still a ways off until our cruise, but I have already drifted over to this board. :)

Just wondering if there are folks who DON'T go on any of the excursions offered? DH has a friend who did the cruise and did NOT like Nausau at all and said next time he would stay on the boat. It's too early for us to decide that but I was wondering what the other options are - hanging out on the ship all day doesn't sound bad at all to me! :)

Did not enjoy Nassau either, so we stayed on the ship it was great we had the whole ship almost to our self

You can also get off for a short time and see stuff and get back on, we usually go buy somr liquor and then get back on and enjoy the ship

US!!!

We haven't done any excursions other than one time on the Glass Bottom Boat in Castaway.

We always say that we're going to, but we like to spend our first time at each port just strolling around and browsing the shops.

While we've done each cruise twice, on the second visit we've had one or both of our DD's with us. There's nothing that 18/21 year old ladies like more than shopping, so back to browsing we went.

I think that the next time we cruise we will do an excursion. :D

We did excursions on our Magic cruises, but this past January on our 4-night Wonder cruise we didn't. We had been to Nassau before, so probably would have just stayed on the ship had it not been for having my parents with us this time and they had never been there, so we got off to show them around a bit and took a horse/buggy ride but that was it.

We didn't do any excursions (we're a family of 5!) but my son did the two teen excursions and had a great time.
We were supposed to do the day at sea but DCL changed it to Freeport after we booked the cruise, which I was not happy about. We did get off the ship at Nassau for a little while and we did take a taxi to Freeport and then right back on the ship. We weren't thrilled w/either place. This next cruise we plan on staying on the ship at Nassau. My husband said we are definitely not getting off! The straw market people are way to pushy and we didn't really enjoy it, although, we are glad we did it once. We are excited about doing that, hoping that most everyone gets off the ship to go into Nassau. We found the excursions to be rather expensive and decided not to do them. We really had a great time snorkeling at Castaway Cay since it was our first time snorkeling. We are looking forward to that again as well.

You'll have a great time no matter what you do!

WE just got off the Wonder in February. We only got off the ship for about 2 hours and did some quick shopping. We were only on the ship for 4 days and I actually prefer sea days to stopping at port. I really wasn't impressed with Nassau, not very clean and the locals were really "pushy" for lack of a better word. (I know that is their job but it was a little annoying).

So, we got back on the ship and our 2 DD's went swimming in the Mickey Pool which was not really crowded at all. It was great. Next time, we're going on a 7 day cruise and probably won't do too many excursions either.

There isn't all that much to do in Nassau...we did taket he two hour historic city tour..very nice.

You could have rented a scooter and done it on your own...crazy driving there though...lol.

We had a blast just walking around on our own..doing some shopping. We took almost the whole day..but, it was our first time there. The people are very nice to speak with. We had lunch at Conch Fritters..not too far from the dock. Plenty of people were having a blast at Senor Frogs. The straw market was very busy, as well as the liqour stores, hard rock cafe.

We wished we would have had time to pop over to Atlantis and check it out..you can see it when the ship docks. We would have grabbed a cab over there..but, we had Palo reservations that night.

I am going on the July 10 Eastern Magic and will not be doing any excursions. The last cruise I went on was for my honeymoon and we didn't do any excurstions then either. We really enjoy just walking around the town, browsing in the shops and then spending time on the beach. We feel that you miss out on a lot by doing the excursions. Most excursions take up the whole day and you miss out on just walking around taking in everything.

We haven't done an excursion yet on any of our four cruises, but will do one in Grand Caymen on our upcoming cruise.

In Nassau, you may want to consider going over to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island on your own. Just hop a taxi at the end of the pier ($4.00pp) and come back (another taxi) when you please. It's a beautiful place worth seeing.

Enjoy your cruise :boat:

WE GOT OFF THE WONDER TO GO TO ONE SPECIFIC STORE IN NASSAU AND GOT RIGHT BACK ON.WE BEEN TO NASSAU THE YEAR BEFORE ON CARNIVAL AND DID THE ATLANTIS TOUR. IT WAS GREAT BUT ONCE WAS ENOUGH. WE DID GET OFF AT FREEPORT AND DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. IF I EVER DO THE 4 DAY AGAIN I WILL STAY ON BOARD.EXCEPT FOR CC.

We didn't do any on our last 3 day, and I am not sure if we will do any on our up coming Eastern 7 night. On our Western we enjoyed the swimming with the stingrays and we went down in a sub for the first time.

On 3 DCL's (one 7 day & two 4 days), we have never done an excursion. This is primarily b/c our DSs were too young. I ditto what others have said about Nassau. Having the ship to yourself is much better, but it sounds like it's going to be more & more crowded in Nassau if no one gets off - LOL.

I don't like Nassau either and the next time we do a 4-day cruise I will not step foot on that island. Three times in Nassau is enough to last me the rest of my life.

....no, I'm not bitter. ;)

We were on the Magic in 2002 and we didn't do any excursions. Just got of the boat and wandered around the stores etc, had a drink and some lunch.

We're not really beach people, so the trip to CC was enough for us.

On my first cruise I took a snorkeling excursion in Nassau and that was nice.

Last trip, a group of us made our own excursion and went to Atlantis - that was cheap and fun to do.

On my Eastern and Western cruises - I took excursions on the first visit - (It's a good way to get a feel of a new place - but you're still 'safe' relatively because they take you from the boat to the excursion site)

I would have no qualms about staying on the boat however.

We have only ever done the turtle farm and stingray tour and we will do that again this year, but without the turtle part. Mostly we walk around and shop and shop and shop and .... did I mention shop? ( Maybe we should do tours, probably cheaper in the long run. ::yes:: )
Come to think of it ...we'll be shopping again in about 7 weeks!!
