Does anyone "not" eat leftovers?

The only leftovers I wont eat is Chinese Food leftovers!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Sometimes I will and sometimes I won't. Holidays, yes. Sometimes I make something and make extra, but I freeze part of it to eat later. That doesn't feel like leftovers to me, but just quick-cooked food.

For example, I'll make a big pot roast in the crock pot and eat it the first night with roast, potatoes, gravy, etc. Then I'll shred up the leftover meat and freeze it, so I can make shredded beef sandwiches or enchiladas or something quickly.

The rest of the time, if what I made can be separated into components and/or probably still taste good reheated, I'll do it. I keep spaghetti and sauce separate in the fridge, and I like them reheated. But if I made hamburger helper or mac and cheese - leftovers will get tossed, because I don't think it tastes good reheated and it will just sit in the fridge.

I'll only eat certain leftovers....meatloaf (for a sandwich the next day), or turkey, chicken (for chicken salad), but my husband loves leftovers. He brings leftovers for lunch EVERY day. That's the only thing he likes for lunch. He makes a big salad, and then I pack up the leftovers from the previous night. Even if we have spaghetti for dinner, he takes it and fries it up with butter. Fried spaghetti!

I have a sister-in-law who has never, ever fed her family leftovers.. (She was raised poor and considers it "acting" poor if you have to eat leftovers..)

Even major holidays - like Thanksgiving.. As soon as everyone is done eating, all the leftovers go right in the trash!!

This is enough to give me heart palpitatiions! Not only do I look forward to a week of Thanksgiving leftovers :cloud9: but I buy an extra large turkey just to make sure we have enough leftovers!

I will eat some leftovers and only for a couple days. DH is big on keeping leftovers. Unfortunately his idea is to put it in the fridge and forget all about it. I then toss it in one week. :confused3

With very few excepti0ons i won't eat leftovers.
I love the spirit and the tenacity of the people over on the budget board but the things they tell you to do with your food to save a buck keep me up at night.:scared1:

*gack* I don't like leftovers. I will eat them every once in a while, but not very often. When we visit my in-laws my MIL does the "fridge cleaning" type of left overs meal at least once while I am there. I smile, pick at my meal and grab something fresh to eat on the way back to our hotel McDonald's is preferable to a glob of reheated "food" from last Thursday'.

We eat leftovers all the time and are far from poor. I consider it a sin to throw out good food. The least your SIL can do is wrap it up and donate it to a needy family. Sounds kind of sad that she still carries this with her.

While I can see bringing groceries over to a family that's going thru a tough time or even bringing a meal over to them, I couldn't imagine wrapping up a bunch of left overs and bringing them to another family.

popcorn::  A lot of foods are even more tasty once they been fridgerated overnight.

Some things get better over time. Especially if they have a tomato base, such as chilli, lasagna, other soups, etc. Salads are only made to serve as needed. And with this household, very few things last to the second day, unless I plan it that way!

I like some things leftover, but not others. In general, I'm not huge on leftovers. I don't have a problem at all with the idea of leftovers, I just don't like how a lot of them taste reheated. I don't like to take them for lunch, but that's all DH will bring. I would rather have a sandwich or soup, but he will only bring if we have something leftover.

When he cooks, he makes way more then we eat to have leftovers (especially since that's what he takes for lunch). I have a lot of trouble cooking that much food - I always tend to make just enough for us to eat.

I love leftovers -- one less thing to do. Sometimes, though, we just store leftovers in the refrigerator until they're old enough to throw away. :rotfl:

We call our major leftover nights "The Feast of Eat-Everything".

All depends what is left over. Meat, not so good for me. Soups and pastas and pizza will do!

Fried spaghetti is TASTY! With leftover noodles, I will put some butter and EVOO in the pan, when hot, I add the noodles and chopped onion. Get them nice and crispy on the bottom, flip, heat them through. Top with shredded cheese and some parmesan shake. Mmmmm. Love it with chopped maters in it, too.

I like my leftovers cold, too. Just today I had a big bowl of left over Beef Stew (from Sunday!!). Tasty tasty!

If I didn't eat leftovers, I would probably starve because I'm not in the mood to cook from scratch every day.. LOL

We always eat leftovers. I would never, ever consider just throwing them in the trash. We even do things like make a big pan of lasagna and then cut the extra into serving sizes and put in the freezer for quick meals at a later time. We do the same thing we stuffed green peppers.

I think that a lot of things, soups & sauces actually taste better the second time around.

Does she clean her her own toilets? Wondering because some people who were "poor" wont clean bathrooms or kitchens because they had to when they were "poor".

It kinda reminds me of my late Grand dad(raised in the depression). He was poor as a kid, never had candy, always ratty clothes. When he got out on his own married my grandmother they made money and saved. But He would not wear a pair of patched pants, he ate candy and ice cream every day.

Her only issue seems to be food.. You can go into her basement at any given time and found 20 bags of sugar; 20 cases of soda; 15 to 20 boxes of cereal; 30 lbs. of various pastas; at least 10 jars of Ragu; 25 large cans of coffee; etc..

She has a huge freezer down there as well that is jam packed full of meats; a minimum of 10 different flavors of ice cream; loaves and loaves of bread; all kinds of frozen juices; at least 10 frozen turkeys and 10 frozen hams at any given time; etc..

In her kitchen, you can't open a cabinet without the items falling out because there's so much food in there - ditto with the fridge and freezer..

She never went "hungry" as a child - but there wasn't an awful lot of variety in what she was served..

If anything, you would think that would make her less wasteful..:confused3

I do not eat leftovers, either. There is something about it that turns my stomach, and I don't know why. It's usually not an issue for us, though, because my DH snacks on leftovers or takes them for lunch the next day.
