Does anyone "not" eat leftovers?

I have a sister-in-law who has never, ever fed her family leftovers.. (She was raised poor and considers it "acting" poor if you have to eat leftovers..)

Even major holidays - like Thanksgiving.. As soon as everyone is done eating, all the leftovers go right in the trash!!

We eat leftovers all the time and are far from poor. I consider it a sin to throw out good food. The least your SIL can do is wrap it up and donate it to a needy family. Sounds kind of sad that she still carries this with her.

DH refused to eat them when we first married. He's learned to eat a few things leftover, but I've gotten very good at cooking exact portions for two to avoid leftovers in the first place.

I can eat leftovers except Chinese food leftovers. As soon as the Chinese food gets old, its done.

I like most leftovers, but I can't eat spaghetti as an adult because I grew up poor too and we had a lot of spaghetti because it was cheap. My DH loves it but I just can't eat it.

That is ridiculous!! :scared1:  I like the day after Thanksgiving even better...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, turkey day leftovers!!

Most often when I am cooking, I cook enough so we will have leftovers, and leftovers again! Second batch sometimes goes in the freezer. To me, its a waste of time and energy not to do so. Grammy

I will admit I do not eat leftovers of any kind. I had a bad case of food poisoning several years ago and attribute it to leftovers. Now my family on the other hand loves leftovers.

OMG, when the boys were little, we'd have entire Leftover meals...whatever I could scrape together. Spaghetti with carrots in it. Mac n cheese with stuffing mixed together. Whatever. The older two boys remember all that and still tease me about some of the meals I had them eat. "Rice Hot Dog Applesauce Suprise" is one of their favorites. I made up a lot of meals and added the word "surprise" to them...might as well have some fun with it. But we were broke and leftovers that fed people was one less meal that needed to be bought! :woohoo:

I will admit that there are now things that sit in the fridge and get thrown out, which is something I NEVER would have done then. I can afford to throw out some spaghetti now if nobody feels like eating it again.

But it isn't like I don't want to eat a leftover just because it is a leftover. I'll be having leftover meatloaf for lunch in a minute. :)

We are the opposite. I love pasta (especially left over) but dh won't eat it for the same reasons you won't.

We eat leftovers all the time, I just make them into something else. If there is just a little left, I ususally eat it for lunch the next day. I often cook larger portions of things like shredded pork so I can freeze and use the following week.

Chinese food leftovers are the best! I can easily get three meals out of a Chinese food order! It reheats so beautifully (unless it's something fried).

My ex wouldn't eat leftovers. It drove me crazy. He had no real reason that I'm aware of--just refused to eat them.

DH and I eat leftovers all the time. I tend to cook in bulk a lot on the weekend and then we'll eat leftovers throughout the week.

My mom was over last week and I asked her if she wanted to stay for dinner. When she asked me what we were having I told her it was Leftover Night. The choices were chili in a bread bowl, curry, or meat loaf and mashed potatos. She thought that was fabulous!

I will eat left overs. But my younger brother and uncles will not. My grandfather would not either.

OK--I take back what I said on the other thread about not liking leftovers. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner leftovers are the BEST. We hardly eat any of the food that day, but we eat if for a couple days after. I only make turkey pot pit with leftovers (this is usually the last of them, and its yummy) I cook those meals specifically with leftovers in mind.

My poor DH eats leftovers for his lunch. He freezes them in Ziploc containers and takes several to work to keep there. WHen he runs low he re-stocks from the home freezer. It's cheap and he isn't eating the same thing for lunch as he ate the night before dinner so it's ok.

Actually my girlfriend's husband will not eat leftover, so she freezes some of the meal when she first makes it and then reheats it weeks later. He is none the wiser and she has less work to do!:lmao:

I agree, Thanksgiving leftovers are to die for!

When we first got married, my dh tried the not eating leftovers thing. It didn't last long.

His mother isn't very knowledgeable about food safety and frankly I don't like to eat leftovers at her house either. Once dh realized I only let him eat leftovers that are actually still edible, he got over it! Now he tends to be disappointed if I don't make enough for him to take for lunch the next day. Sometimes we actually fight over who gets the leftovers.

DW won't eat leftovers of hardly anything. It's not a "cheap" thing, it's a flavor thing. I don't mind leftovers and sometimes enjoy them quite a bit.:confused3

My DD loves leftover night - it is her own mini version of a buffet! We do it about once a week, clean out the fridge and I just heat everything up add a salad and voila, dinner!

I have no issues with leftovers and do not see it as something one does only when poor. It is a social conscience for me, I have a really hard time throwing away food knowing people go hungry in this world every day.

Personally, I prefer leftover spaghetti, I think it tastes better.

I take leftovers for lunch almost every day and when I cook I plan for that. Currently, DS just left for college and I am really struggling with how to cook for 3 instead of for 6 when he was home (yes, he eats that much:lmao: )

DD's new school has microwaves for the kids to use at lunch, she is thrilled to now be able to take leftovers and heat them for lunch.
