I ask b/c when we were at Epcot on Saturday, the park was quite busy but the wait for MS was only 5 minutes long. I knew I did not want to ride it, but DH and DBIL wanted to try it out. They came out less than a few minutes later, as they decided not to ride it. DH said all it did was spin around real fast (sort of like the carnival Gravitron rides?) and the CM warned it might cause motion sickness... doesn't sound fun to me! I also find it interesting that all the previews, ads, etc do not say that the ride spins.... hmm.

The fact is, you can't really tell that the ride spins. That's part of the magic.

The sensation you get is of a rocket lifting off, and all that spinning makes the gravity force very strong. (At one point, to avert a crash, you have to punch some buttons on the console in front of you -- and it was a bit of a struggle for me to left my arm!)

I enjoyed it when I first experienced the ride two years ago. But I talked to a cast member (who had invited me to the c-m preview before its opening) who said, "You know what? In the two years since I rode that, I haven't had the slightest desire to do it again. It was fine, but just not that thrilling." I sort of know what she meant.

I enjoy it and ride it at least twice every trip. When it was first opened, I rode it 3 times in a row and came out with a slight headache. Other than that, I've never had a problem.

I like it! I rode it for the second time this weekend and thought they had toned it down dramatically. I rode it when it very first opened and I hated it and swore that I would never ride it again. My husband begged me to give it another try this past weekend though, and I did - although I just about had a panic attack from all the warnings posted throughout the line, and then the barf bags in the ride!! Anyway, I was glad that I gave it a second chance. It was really fun, and again, I really think the spinning at liftoff has been toned down. If you can get through that first part, the rest of it is not so bad...

I like it well enough. I'll ride it every time we go, but I wouldn't be terribly upset if it were closed when I was there and couldn't ride. There really wasn't much to it. Nobody in my party got sick but I have heard that some people do.

I am going to agree with you CAN NOT tell that it is spinning. In fact I didn't know it spun until after we were off it. I believe it spins faster than the Gravitron-like ride at carnivals.

I particularly like it. I wouldn't ride it after eating, but I liked it.

The fact of the matter is it's like what the astronaughts do for training. Though it's very mild compare to what they do.

I'd ride it over Tower of Terror. I get sick on Tower of Terror.

PS I didn't even know there were barf bags.

I do not like spinning rides, but will do anything else. I do not go on the Tea Cups. I loved Mission Space. It is not the type of ride that one normally enjoys going on over and over and over again. It is what I call a great "experience". You experience the sensation of being blasted into space, like an astronaut, and that is what makes it cool. Maybe now that they toned it down I will be able to enjoy differently. I went on it before the "official" opening so I rode it full bore and loved it, but couldn't go on it more than twice.

My 8 yo and dh loved it! I WILL say that dh ended up feeling tired and headache-y afterward, though. He did not attribute it to the ride, but I wonder....

I thought it was great. The warnings posted ALL OVER just added to the thrill of the ride. I would not have known it was a spinning ride had someone not pointed that out to me before getting on it. I was very intimidated by all the warnings and the barf bags before the ride started but it added to the butterfly in the stomach feeling before "the launch."

You have a computer screen right in front of you that you watch during the whole experience so you see yourselves launch through the sky and into space and the earth from space, etc. Really cool ride

I am a wimp so I didn't go on it but my husband did and he liked it, however he did say if the launch lasted any longer he would have been sick to his stomach. He also said he never felt it spinning.

I loved it! I went immediatley after a full meal at the San Angel in with a couple of beers, and I never felt I was in danger of losing it. I did feel a slight sensation of dizzyness when I got off the ride, not really dizzy, just a sensation. But I thought it was an awesome experience.

I'm gonna give it another chance...I think I did like it upon reflection, but I was so worried about my BIL and his rapidly changing green face that I couldn't concentrate on the ride. I didn't feel much of anything to tell you the truth and I was disappointed after it was over. I love thrill rides too and I just didn't get a thrill from this one...

DH and I both loved it!! We rode 3 different times last week on our trip. I don't do roller coasters, DH doesn't do 'spinning' rides like the tea cups for example, but he loved MS. He said the difference for him is that you don't realize you are spinning, you can't see anything moving around.

The last time we rode, he questioned one of the CM's about how fast it really is spinning etc. but prefaced it with "I guess you can't tell me cause it will spoil the magic" LOL. The CM did say the 'arm' part of the seat/car lifts 50 feet and the whole thing goes 16 rpm's. Then he said you can probably figure from that how many G's that is forcing on you. (Well, I couldn't not being scientifically minded but....)

Will definitely ride again. :sunny:

I love the feeling of take off and the weightless feeling. I have never felt sick on it but don't care to do regular spinning rides like tea cups. I go on it many times during my visit if there is no waiting but not usually in a row.

I did not ride it(I am pregnant), but dh loved it, and sooo wanted to ride it again, but we did not have time.

See, I'm the opposite. I LOVE the launch. That is the best part. However, when you start dodging asteroids after the "sleep" cycle, that's when it gives me problems.

It's a once every couple of trips thing, but then I have to either go to Ellen's or Spaceship Earth afterwards to calm my head down. Can't do Test Track right afterwards.

Ok, maybe next time I will muster up my courage and give it a try. It doesn't sound so bad after all :p

The rides that give me headaches are the 'virtual reality' ones. Like the Star Wars ride at MGM. I do love Test Track and Tower of Terror though! So I think I might be able to stomach MS.
