Does anyone like going in October?

I'm planning on going to WDW with some friends in fall. I want to go the week after Thanksgiving (it's cooler, value season and less crowded), but they all want to go in October. I've never been in October. So tell me...is it really that bad at that time?

Btw, I won't be participating in MNSSHP, so that's not an issue.

Not at all, in fact, I would say its one of the best months to go. It might or might not still be a bit hot and technically you are still in hurricane season but the chances are MUCH less than going during the summer. You can actually get cool days too, especially in the evening. The best part is that the crowds are pretty low in that month. Its not EMPTY but they are low. Whichever way its a good month to go, especially because you have the food and wine festival going on. You'll have a great time!!

We have gone 3 times in Oct. and loved it. Crowds are not that bad. It has been in the 80's and 90's. I think my next favorite time is the week after Thanksgiving. We went this last year and the weather and crowds were nice and you have the added pleasure of the christmas decorations!
Both times of the fall are great!

I've always wanted to go to Disneyworld in October but it would be impossible with my school schedule. But once I'm done with college I'd like to do an October trip. I bet you'd have a great time during that month. I've heard the weather and crowds are perfect. Not too hot and not too crowded. Whatever decision you all come to, have a great time! :sunny:

October is one of the best months to be in Disney World. The others are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, November and December.

We went October 04
The weather was beautiful/low 80's
Columbus weekend was very crowded at mk(saturday)
A cm said it was comparable to 4th of July crowds.
The Food and Wine festival was Great Fun.

I just got the okay to start planning my dd's 13th b-day in Oct. '06 in WDW. I love this time of year in WDW. We were there for the last week in Oct in '99 for our first trip and it was wonderful...so, looking forward to the same time frame in '06. The weather is terrific, the crowds aren't mindboggling.

This year Columbus day is on a Wednesday. What weekend will it be celbrated on? Before of after the 12th?

I keep finding out about one thing after the other for our week we will be there (the 15th to the 22nd) that will make the crowds larger. The PGA tour, Food and Wine Festival, and now Columbus Day. :( Next thing I am going to hear is that Disney has instituted a new "bring a freind for free day" during our visit. :)

I don't think you'll have to worry about that. :rotfl:

:)

Columbus day is Monday the 10th. I would assume that the weekend of the 7th-9th would be the busy weekend.

This is my first time going in October and I will be checking out on the 8th to avoid the crowds. :)

Oh, I always thought it was on the 12th.

We have always gone in either September or October. Scared to death about our June trip this year, crowds & heat!

You will love it. Food & Wine Festival, great experience.

We've been the last week in October and the week after Thanksgiving. Both are great, it's a little hotter in October so more swimming. We did luck out this past December we were there from the 2nd to the 8th and had only one cool day. The rest was just beautiful. I like both but if you have not been to see the Christmas decorations, December is a must. Everything is so beautiful. The crowds were a little heavier than expected in December but still manageable.

We haven't gone in October yet but are going this year! We're going at the end of Oct. and beginning of Nov.!!

Loved October!!!! It is still hot but not ungodly! If you love Halloween like I do you will love MNSSHP! I would go again in October in a heartbeat. :flower:

I personally think October is the best time of year to go. The weather is perfect...not too hot and not too cold. Waterparks are still open too. The only drawback I see about going in the fall is the parks close earlier. But that can also be a good thing - time to rest before heading out the next day.

We go the week of Halloween every year. The resorts are okay and the crowds are not huge. We love the F & W and MNSSHP. We feel it is the best time to go. I will clue you in though this is Wisconsin Teachers convention so a lot of us are down in the World.

We stay DVC so I don't know about the resort prices
