Does ANYONE like Chef Mickey's?

Well SOMEBODY must like it because I have been trying to get a breakfast reservation for some time for our trip in September and can't seem to get anything that fits our schedule! haha! We are the same as others here and are taking children for their first trip and really could care less how the food tastes. I'm always good with food I don't have to a) cook myself and b) clean up after!

It's my son's first trip and we are going our first night for dinner. I have always gone there for the characters not the food. Any recent positive comments? Anyone?

Thanks!

We have been happy both dinners we'd had there. We always go when dinner starts so the food is fresh and it's not so crowded. We've had great character interactions too.

We do for breakfast, we have always have a great experience with food, wait staff, and most of all characters.

We went for breakfast. It was fine. It wasn't the best nor worst food I'd ever eaten. We did have to wait a bit to be seated, but that was okay and the service and character interaction was good. I did NOT experience the "disgusting" buffet that people here have said to experience. All the food was reasonably full and neat and warm (buffets are never really hot).

We were there for dinner in April 2014 and we had no complaints about the food, everyone in our family of five found something they liked. We'd go there again because the kids really liked the characters (and the dessert bar!), but next time I would make sure to request a table in the center room! My one regret after our one and only visit was that they put us in a corner in one of the back rooms so my kids (all boys) missed out on the rowdy and fun dining antics and I know they would have loved that (thank goodness I was the only one who realized we missed out). Boo.
I think that this is the best answer in this thread. The buffet is large enough and diverse enough that you can find something that you like. The guy cutting the prime rib remembered me after the 2nd visit. And the potatoes were excellent. My wife has various food allergies (soy, gluten, dairy) and had plenty to eat. Is it a Ruth Chris steakhouse, no, but not too shabby though.

We've been for breakfast twice and dinner once. The breakfasts were fantastic and the dinner was fine - not our favorite dinner ever, but there was plenty to eat and we left full.

Not a Chef Mickey's fan here and I only went once about 12 years ago. I agree with the ideas of getting there at the beginning, getting a table where the characters don't miss you (we had to chase Minnie down), and the breakfast might be better than the dinner we had (it was not appetizing and I am not really that picky). Our kids loved the characters but now as teens they want Crystal Palace every single trip for breakfast.

Go, enjoy Chef Mickey's, but consider Crystal Palace as well because it is our favorite for characters and buffet food!

Oh yes, whoever dissed on Hollywood and Vine - I am right there with you! Another non-repeat for us!

We did dinner there and thought it was good! We all found things to eat, loved the character interaction, it was a fun dinner! We're doing breakfast there next trip.

I am completely not a Disney downer in any way, but this is one place I do not like, almost at all. The character interactions were rushed and the food was not great. For the characters, get a fast pass to the character spot in Epcot. It is lovely, relaxed and you get three characters.

I'm definitely in the never again camp. Have done two breakfasts and one dinner, all on our earlier trips. Kept thinking it was just an off time and would be better the next time. Back then I was hearing rave reviews about it all over the place. I guess we kind of resigned ourselves to think all Disney buffets would be chaotic, dirty, and yucky food.

But then we tried other places and found this one quickly went to the bottom of the list. We really enjoyed Tusker House so much more and you get to see Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy. Maybe not the Fab Five, but close enough! It's so much cleaner, food is better, less chaotic. Also loved 1900 Park Fare dinner. And even felt Crystal Palace was better.

So my question to those who do like Chef Mickeys.... Have you tried any of the others? Do you have anything to compare it to? Just curious!

We are definitely all about character meals. We've been to Chef Mickey's twice and both times we said we wouldn't go back. Not crazy about the the frequency of character interactions we've had (very few and very quick).

That being said, we are in love with 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace breakfasts! Another great one we don't miss is the Cape May Cafe. We are headed to WDW for 11 days in a couple weeks. Going to breakfast at 1900 Park Fare twice, as my two year old loves Winnie. Also have a breakfast reservation at the Crystal Palace before the park opens, which we are looking forward to. We are also crazy about the character breakfast at Ohana, which is our first breakfast reservation we book every trip.

But please keep in mind everyone has different experiences. So if it's magical to you...don't stop living the dream! :)

Yep- we've done all of them. We felt like the breakfast food at Tusker House was the best out of all the buffets. We actually liked Crystal Palace the least food wise. I think the food at 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey for dinner is a toss up. Breakfast at 1900 was fine but better at TH.

As far as character interaction- we found the characters at TH to be rushed, we had to chase down Tigger at CP. Character interaction was hands down the BEST at breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare, followed by Chef Mickey.

We absolutely love it! It was our favorite- so much that we may go twice next trip! We are big breakfast food lovers though, not everyone is. The waffles were the best I've ever had. It was fantastic for us, I can't recommend it enough!!

The character interaction was great too! My kids loved everything about it, it was their favorite place too!

We went on June 12 at 5pm. Had a party of 16. Everyone thought the food was really good. The ribs and those cheesy mashed potatoes were my favorite. Actually quite a few of us went back for more ribs and mashed potatoes! I thought the characters came a little too fast. It seemed just as soon as we were finishing with one there was another one right behind them which made it feel rushed. The good thing about it is they came back over and over so we did get a chance to get pics if we missed them the first time. I would definitely go again!

I like it for breakfast. I think the food is at least on par with Crystal Palace and generally in the ballpark of other character breakfasts for food (Tusker House is our favorite with Cape May a close second).

I would never go there for dinner. Then again, we generally avoid character meals for any meal except breakfast.

We've been to just about every character buffet and we've enjoyed Chef Mickey's. The food was good, the buffet area clean and character interaction was great. We like it much better then Park Fare.

My family and I like it mostly for breakfast but it isn't a place we must eat at every trip we go on. The food is fine and it is convenient to eat there for breakfast before we head into the Magic Kingdom for the day.

We are going for brunch on our rest day. The kids love the atmosphere and the characters and my niece has never been so she is excited. Do I expect gourmet food? Nope but I have never had a horrible experience there either. I am having a cake for my sister's birthday delivered too so we'll be having fun no matter what!
