Does ANYONE like Chef Mickey's?

We like it, we go every trip. For us it's about the atmosphere and experience, though we do enjoy the food too. I don't know if we have always been really hungry, or really lucky, or we are just not that picky. Anyway, it's tradition for us, along with O Hana's for breakfast.
Now Hollywood & Vine, I would never go back to.

I have "not" eaten at Chef's Mickey, but am an avid follower of this forum. I think there is a strong split on Chef Mickey's value and quality. If I take a logical look at this, I would think if you booked Chef Mickey at their opening time for meals, you may find a lot more value.
1> Wait time would be eliminated
2> Food will be hot and fresh (Biggest complaint I have seen from people who hated it)
3> Characters will be starting their shift (I would think) and have more energy
4> You should be able to get out relatively quickly

We are taking my parents and extended family with young kinds this Jan, and I am planning to follow this strategy.

We go there just for the characters. In our experience Breakfast is way better than their dinner. We usually try and get an early ADR for breakfast there so we don't miss valuable park time. Although We've done Chef Mickey's every trip basically and its just starting to get tiring for me. When we go back in 2017 I think we will give Cape May a try and also Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. There are so many restaurants out there that we haven't tried and yes we have our stand bys that we can't get rid of like Crystal Palace but Chef Mickey's for me is a replaceable meal.

We have had dinner there before and did not like it at all (food, service, and character interaction seemed to be off that night), however we did like the breakfast there. As for the character interaction, it can be hit or miss (at least in our case), but it does have the fab 5 there which is a plus. We had a really great experience there a couple trips ago while eating breakfast with great character interaction, great service, and the food was really good. We are going back there in October (for breakfast again) and hope to have the same experience.

Never had an issue with Chef Mickey's. I have destroyed the buffet on numerous occasions.

If you go in with the expectation that the quality of the meal will be commensurate with the price you're paying...you'll be SADLY disappointed. I think the food is OK...but it's not a good value. It's all about the characters at Chef Mickey's.

I did it for breakfast several years ago and loved it.. Everyone has different opinions and experiences with the restaurants. I've read atrocious reviews for restaurants I had great experiences at. I always say everyone should try a reataurant at least once.

We went 2 weeks ago for Brunch and for buffet food I found it to be pretty decent/normal. Nothing fancy of course but what they had was good. On the podcast they said the ribs weren't that good but they were exactly how I like them.

My problem was that I was the official photographer of our group so I probably ate $10 worth of food because I couldn't focus on my food lol
I was able to try everything I wanted though. The desserts are super delicious!

We didn't go for dinner, but went for breakfast and loved it. Yes it was noisy, but it's Disney with kids and it didn't bother us. It was clean (as I'd heard comments otherwise). Food was great....tons of selection from pastries, cold items and hot items, and quite good. And the character interaction was great. Our kids loved seeing the fab 5.
For us, it was our last meal / thing we did before we had to check out and head to the airport. Makes a great Disney arrival or departure meal.

Our dinner was great, we were the first people there for dinner and my kiddos got to open the restaurant with Mickey, they still talk about it to this day!

+1

Is the food going to win any awards? No, but understanding that, my family has never had a bad experience there. My nephews (2.5, 6, and 9) love it - we always go for breakfast on one of our off days so we don't feel rushed.

We go there every trip, it's become a tradition to go on our arrival day. We've never had any problems and have always liked the food (breakfast and dinner). It's my daughter's favorite and she's 18.

I have gone to Chef Mickey's for breakfast twice - once for our Wedding Breakfast two days before our wedding down there (20 people) and a second time with my husband after driving all night to get to WDW for the Princess Half Marathon the next day. Each time, everyone in the party truly enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. My husband and I have found Boma to be excellent and more cost effective (if you are not looking for character interaction). I have never had dinner at Chef Mickey's, but we tend to enjoy breakfast buffets more. I would recommend the breakfast there and the atmosphere is a great way to get you in the spirit!

We were there for dinner in April 2014 and we had no complaints about the food, everyone in our family of five found something they liked. We'd go there again because the kids really liked the characters (and the dessert bar!), but next time I would make sure to request a table in the center room! My one regret after our one and only visit was that they put us in a corner in one of the back rooms so my kids (all boys) missed out on the rowdy and fun dining antics and I know they would have loved that (thank goodness I was the only one who realized we missed out). Boo.

We went in April and LOVED it! That being said. I went in with VERY low expectations after reading the reviews on the boards. I thought the food was really good, the buffet was clean, and Minnie kissed me like four times! What more could a guy ask for!

We went in May and loved it. Few notes - #1: we had a 7:20 am reservation so we were among the first ones in and did not have to wait for a table. #2: even at 7:20 the food is more on the lukewarm - warm side. That said, the food temperature was awesome for my kid as he is a messy gobbler...so he could go to town without burning himself. :)

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We had horrible experience, we were in a corner where the characters didn't come to, we had to ask several CM's to have them come over, a couple next to us celebrating their anniversary asked if it was still a character meal and left before any of them even came over. Food wasn't all that great either, plus I was up sick the entire night. No I wouldn't recommend it and I was so excited for this one.

Pretty sure the Disney bean counters love it. Probably wouldn't eat there, but boy do they LOVE it! ;)
