It's my son's first trip and we are going our first night for dinner. I have always gone there for the characters not the food. Any recent positive comments? Anyone?

Thanks!

We love the character interaction there. We also had a very excited 4 year old there on our last trip and our server was awesome. She got ODD a chefs hat that all the characters autographed and had the chef come out to meet us. We really had fun.

The food, well, that leaves a LOT to be desired.

DH's favorite restaurant is Chef Mickey's. We love the atmopshere (hello, you can see all of MK!) and the characters. The food isn't fantastic but it's decent enough and plentiful. We don't go in expecting a signature style meal and we always leave happy and satisfied.

We've been once and while it wasn't a blow your socks off dining experience, it also wasn't the worst ever either. The food was fine, the character interaction I felt was wonderful, and service was just fine too. Everyone has their opinion, you have to go and see if its right for you! :)

We've not been before but even after reading all the reviews both ways we decided to book it on a night that MVMCP is happening. We love the Contemporary and we figured it would be a good night to try it as my parents are having their date night that night and it will be the one night it's just my DH & our boys. We're looking forward to it.

We've done breakfast once and dinner once. I liked breakfast more than dinner but both were good. It is my DS15 favorite restaurant.

I've also never had a bad meal at Disney but I'm also not a picky eater. I'm not saying everything is absolutely amazing but never an outright bad meal.

It's an okay meal, we go on our first night every trip and usually close it out with them too. My kids love it. We don't mind paying for the experience instead of the food though. This year we are only doing it once and closing out with BOG!!! Yeah.

We went for breakfast and loved the food. The only downside we had the first time there was our kids were hungry and there was a small wait (about 20 min) but we find that to be the norm for most character meals. Overall it was awesome, so much so that we booked dinner this year b/c we enjoyed breakfast so much.

We did exactly what you are doing 2 yrs ago. It was my DH and DD's, then 6 yrs old, first Disney trip. We kicked off our trip with a dinner at Chef Mickey's. We loved it. It was a great way to get in the Disney spirit. My DD wanted to fill her autograph book and with so many characters at Chef Mickey's, she was off to a great start. Chef Mickey's has all the classic Disney characters, so it just seemed like a great welcoming. The atmosphere was lots of fun. The characters were very interactive. The food was fine. I can't really remember any of it, but I also don't remember anything awful about it. It's typically buffet stuff.

We are going back to Disney this Fall. Chef Mickey's is on my DD's must do again list.

Absolutely awful. Literally - I can't say anything good about it the last time we went. We had a party of 13 and we all hated it. My daughter was 4 at the time and even commented how bad the food was.

I liked dinner when I ate there, but that was years ago, breakfast I didn't care for.

Its been a few years but we loved the food and the characters. We would go again but there are just too many other places we haven't tried.

My family likes it. I prefer dinner but the price kept us from going there on our most recent trip.

I booked a brunch for my family and listened to the podcast review. I am looking forward to it even more now! :)

Going to add that you will get positives and negatives about every place. You have to just go and try for yourself. one of the most popular restaurants that people think is wonderful here on these boards was our worst meal ever ( won't even mention where).

A friend went in the winter and said it was the best meal he had there so I decided to book it for my upcoming trip in October. It better be good or he's in trouble.
