how the weather is during Aug/sept? We were in disney last week and had a great time. :cheer2: We are maybe thinking of going back but the only time we can really do it is maybe the 2nd or 3rd week in august or the 3rd week in september possibly. Im kinda concerned cause i know that it is hurricane season. But i know that doesnt mean florida will be affected but does it rain alot in september? Also maybe considering the value resorts since we just went and are trying to make this a cheaper trip. How are the values? Thanks for any info.

We have been the last 3 years in Sept, and love it. It is warm, but I like to use the pools, so I like that. A few thunder storms, but they pass quickly. The crowds are low,so that is nice also.

I have gone alot in Sept. It is still VERY Hot and Humid. It is also the PEAK of Atlantic Hurricaine season( June 1-Nov30 ) and that is why they offer cheaper rates and Free Dining

We've gone the last three Septembers the first week or 12 days of the month and absolutely love it. Yes, it is hot. Yes, it is humid. Yes, it is hurricane season. In those three trips, approximately 36 days, we have had four days of rain--and that consisted of one afternoon where it rained for three hours--downpoured; two days of a brief rain shower two or three times during the day; and one day where it rained when we arrived for 40 minutes and again that night for 30 minutes. We've been very fortunate.

Between like 10 and 2 it's like walking around under a heat lamp.

I wear a wide rim hat, it does wonders. I find that it's not as bad as everyone thinks. If you take it slow and drink plenty of water it is quite manageable.

The afternoon thunder showers are scattered. There's a 50 50 chance it will hit where you are but i's likely you'll be inside somewhere and miss it. We don't bother with rain coats, umbrellas work better plus they're great portable shade.

You do realize FL in August is exactly 17 feet away from the sun right? The USF football team plays at the Sun Dome, its where the sun goes to explode liquid hot magma on the good folks of FL every summer

LOL!! Ok you guys are scaring me. So i shouldnt really be planning this trip is what you guys are all saying. :lmao: Ive only been to florida in March once and the rest of the times in May. We had a great time last week and thought about going back. I dont know if we can go back any other time than that. I wanted to get the free dining to. So how are the values? Or should i just stick with the mods. We loved CBR.

Proper attire makes all the difference. :lmao:

I really don't think it's all that bad.

HOT AND HUMID!!!:faint: On our last trip in Sept, out of 5 days it rained 2, but we stuck it out in the parks. The rain didn't last too long and the crowds thinned out a lot. Besides the heat and humidity, we also contended with hoardes of lovebugs.:headache: They are nuisances but at least they don't bite.

That is peak hurricane season....we have gone in Aug and Sept before and there is always heavy rain and thunderstorms on and off during the day...every single day.

Last Aug we went for 4 days and it was when TS Faye was hovering over Orlando....we were soaked but the parks were totally empty and we had a great time

We have done Aug. 3 times and Sept. 5 times and have come to this conclusion, its really HOT and HUMID in Aug. We are usually there the last week of the month.Sept can be hot but seems to be a little better..just a litttle. We are trying July for the first time,I just couldn't say no to the price I got from a member.....:woohoo:

EEEW!!!! :scared1: What are these lovebugs you speak of????? Will bug spray help? By the way, how are the mosiquitos????

Hotter than Hades!

That's a lot bigger issue than hurricanes, IMO. If you can tolerate the heat and humidity, go for it. If you're like me and can't -- it's a bad time to be in Florida.

Unless you have one of those suits like Baltazar posted!

EDITED: Just saw you are from Buffalo -- don't do it! I'm originally from Buffalo too and the months of August and September were one of the reasons we only lasted living in Florida for 2 years! LOL! How about early February - that's a great time to be in Florida and as you know, a great time to be out of Buffalo!

If you've been in May...it's not THAT different. If Aug/Sep is as hot as a pimple on satan's forehead, then May is as hot as the hair on the end of the pimple. What's the difference in feel between 93 degrees and 90% humidity, versus 97 degrees and 95% humidity? Really, not much. so don't worry too much - you've got May experience so that should give you a pretty good idea. Just increase the heat 10%! ;)

As for lovebugs - don't even worry about them. They are harmless, slow, silly, pointless little soft bugs with no bite or sting that just like to float around in the air stuck together in twos and...ah...love eachother. The only folks that really need to worry about them are those driving to Disney - they make a phenomenal mess of your car, and if not cleaned off within 1 day in the Florida sun, they will become one with your paint - permanently.

Will it rain? Well, it's Florida! I can virtually guarantee you 3 things - You'll see sun, you'll see rain, and you'll see bugs. I can make those same 3 guarantees almost any month in Florida - but my odds are better during the summer. I'll go ahead and give you the Florida weather forecast - this is valid from May 20 through October 1:

"Highs in the mid-90s, low in the upper 80s, partly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain".

Hurricanes? Don't think about them - sure, that's hurricane season. And sure, one might happen to come along then. But it's possible to get a tropical system as early as May and as late as December - so that's a pretty big chunk of the year! Can't rightly avoid all those times forever. Besides, Disney is by far the best place to be for a hurricane if you have to ride one out. They've got fortified hotels, great emergency plans, generators everywhere, tons of food, and lots of staff, with emergency services, electrical repair, etc all right on site. During our wonderful and exciting 2004-2005 Hurricane season (sarcasm), when Florida had the 8 hurricanes in 2 years...Disney was affected directly by 3 of them in 2004, and got a brush-by of 1 more in 2005. Down here in South Florida, we got 2 in 2004, and 3 in 2005. After Frances in 2004 knocked out my power for a week and I got sick of cleanup, I took a quick Sep trip to Disney, which was still cleaning up from Charley AND Frances. While there, I got to experience their hurricane planning for Jeanne, who came through just a month after Frances. The parks were down for 1/2 day - and by the very next day, all the debris was cleaned up again. When I got home, my power was out again and more trees were down...I wanted to go back to Disney!

Other than that strange run of canes in those two years, Florida seems to split hurricane strikes with the rest of the gulf coast states, and the Carolinas, about evenly. With maybe 2 US landfalls on average a year, the chances are pretty low that in any given year it will hit not only Florida, but come right through Orlando/Disney while you're there. So...don't worry about it!

Yes, guess which 2 years I lived on the central east coast of Florida? :lmao:

Yay, Buffalo :thumbsup2

Oh no. We'll be driving down at the end of August and I'd hate to have bugs in my paint. :scared: Is there a car wash at the Hess gas station that's right there. I believe it was a hess gas station anyway. It's been almost 2 years since I've been down there so I can't really remember. Are the bugs out all day or only in the evenings?

Imagine standing in a 120 degree sauna with 20,000 of your closest friends and you have to wait 12 hours to get out. :scared1::scared1::scared1: Oh, I almost forgot! Your kids and everyone one of your 20,000 friends' kids are there too.

Except it to be hot, humid, and for it to rain at least once per day (however it doesn't last long). I am going the last week of Sept myself. :goodvibes
