I would love to know if we are booked on one of the new planes. I hear they are very nice. Thanks. :)

You mean the fleet numbers of the aircraft? Or the flight numbers? You can check via the ATA website in the reservations system, what type of aircraft are assigned to a particular flight on a particular day. If you want I can check for you...

I know my flight #'s and my plane #, but I don't know if it is one of the new planes. I hope that isn't too confusing? I saw on the resorts board you will be at the world 9-4 to 9-10, we will be flying home on the 10th into wonderful Midway! :)

No, not confusing. The new planes are Boeing 737-800s which show as 737 on the ATA reservation system. The newest 757s are 757-300s which will show on their system as 753. They do have seating charts available on their site, however they are so small and grainy it is hard to really see seat numbers or anything.

And, yes, we will be at Disney World thru the 10th of Sept and are flying home on one of the new 757-300s. Should be interesting.

I thought the 757 was a new plane. At least we will get to fly on one on our Dec. trip. Thanks for the info at least I won't have my hopes up! Please post how they were!

Yes, the 757-300s are the newest and largest 757s that ATA uses, but they do have a fairly decent sized fleet of 757-200s which are actually a pretty nice plane as well. I will let you know how the 757-300s were. I hear that the new planes ATA is getting will have leather seats. Should be interesting.

Thanks for letting me know that too!! i will be flying there sept 2 and coming home the 5th a quick getaway for me and my hubby!! and we are flying on the 753. Thanks again!!

Here is a link to an ATA press release announcing the facilities changes at Midway Airport and the new aircraft coming on line: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/m...story/03-05-2001/0001440212&EDATE=Mar+5,+2001

49 new aircraft are being delivered at the rate of one every 15 days over a 24 month period (which started in May). Initial deliveries of new planes are focusing on flights/routes in and out of Midway. These new planes sport a new livery, so the exterior paint scheme is different. We live about 20 miles directly west of Midway airport so we can frequently see ATA planes in the air heading west after takeoff (fortunately, by the time they are overhead at our location, they are too high to hear). I've noticed a few of these new planes as they fly over and also saw one on the ground at Midway when we arrived there two weeks ago. The paint scheme is much more sedate than the old "vacation airline" theme (provide catchy tune and sing along "...with ATA, you're on vacation...") as ATA works on its expansion plans. I just hope ATA fares continue to provide good value for my continued vacation travel nees as the airline goes after more business travelers as well as vacationers.
