We would like to try Universal next year and would like to use the entertainment discount to stay onsite. Does anyone know what days are blacked out for discounts? Thanks.

There doesn't appear to be any logical pattern to the discounts - they are released based on occupency for the same time last year.

I'd suggest looking at the thread at the top of this page - "what's your rate for 2002/2003" and see when other people have gotten discounts. Or, alternatively, pick a few dates that you'd like to travel, and phone to see if they're available. If you're flexible on your travel dates, you should do fine. You'll find though, that while one hotel may offer the discount for a certain week, the other two might not necessarily do the same. So you may need to be completely flexible on your dates if you are adament about where you want to stay.

Welcome to the frustrating world of "dicount seekers"!

Hi, Where do you find discount rates, and who do you ring to use them. I have an AAA card but Universal said we couldn't book using that direct. The quoted prices seem 3x higher than what I see on this site. I really want to stay at universal ,please help!

Hi Kimkie!

I'm brand new to all of this discount stuff too :p , but from what I've learned last night, you have to buy an Entertainment Discount book Click here to find out more information. Inside the book you'll find a card for 50% off of Universal Hotels. I don't think you have to buy the Orlando book, I believe you can buy a book for any region, but maybe someone else can address that. There's information about the discounts in the threads at the top of the page. That's were I'm getting all my information from. LOL!!

Good luck! :)

You should be able to book a AAA discounted rate through US (I called 1-800-BE-A-STAR..I think that's the #) and got the AAA rate of $159/night at RPR for May 16-18. I think there are blackout dates in mid-May for the entertainment rate, the cheapest room at HRH she quoted was $229/night at HRH garden view, none for RPR. I would call the "STAR" # and ask again about the AAA discounts. In fact the rep asked me if I had any other memberships that would offer a discount and that's how I got the rate I did.
Good Luck!:)
