We have heard 3 different things from pool sales groups.
Some say " NO don't put it over the tank" I understand that just incase you have to service the tank...
Now one told us you CAN put it over the leaching field...
another said the weight will damage the leaching field..... :confused3
Please anyone with help???

Every state has different codes and laws regarding septic tanks and the leaching fields. Your best bet is to call your county health department and ask to speak to someone in the environmental services department. They will know the right answer.

I wouldn't do that. We had a problem with ours when our system was just a year old and had to move the whole system to another part of the property.

We were told NO when we put in our pool several years ago. We live in NH. We didn't ask the town or anything.... the pool installation company were the ones that told us. Just doesn't seem like a very good idea............P

Yes, definitely check with your health dept or maybe even the building codes dept. to make sure.

I remember working with a engineer who designed our drainfield.....the drainfield or leaching field is designed to leach the water at a certain rate. Not only would it be inconvenient to move the pool for any reason, I would think if you had to drain your pool or any residual water that gets out of the pool and onto the ground might affect the rate the water gets distributed which could lead to drainage problems. I'm thinking overload because of its weight and the potential for excess water which might affect its integrity and its design....and I would worry about erosion, too.

Thanks guys. We are trying to fit it in the yard somehow....When we bought the house a few months ago it was because of the nice flat backyard so we could but a pool in..at that time we asked the engineer and he told us not inground pool but a above shouldn't be a problem....ya right we should have done our home work a little better now the is nowwhere to put it..... :confused3 :guilty:

Our neighbors were going to put in an oval above ground pool not long ago. The pool installation company came out but the only place they had large enough was over the leach field. The pool company refused to intall it there.

That sounds correct.
WAe were able to get some information today.
We could put it over the field but the engineer wouldn't suggest it.
It would be a very expensive mistake.. ..we are going to go with that.
In order to stay away from the leaching field and tank we will have to put the pool about 60 feet from the house..that means removing trees...Ya...the $$ keeps going up and up..... :Pinkbounc

You don't want to do that, among other reasons because you do not want a colapsed leaching field. My answer would be I would not do it .
