Does anyone know? GPS on Plane

Hi all!

My DH and I are going for a quick DisneyMoon the weekend of Labor Day and we were hoping to not check luggage. We want to bring our GPS as we are going to venture off property to try one the restaurants that Kevin suggested.

Does anyone know if you can bring your GPS in a carry on? We don't want to get up to security and have to leave it there!

Any help would be appreciated!

I travel a lot for business and never go anywhere without my TomTom portable GPS. I always have it in my carry-on bag, and have never had an issue at security. It's just considered another electronic device like an iPod or cell phone. Obviously, you can't use it in flight (although I did turn it on once just to see exactly where we were and how fast we were going -- shhhhhhh -- but it was really cool -- 534 mph, but it couldn't figure out what road we were on!!). Shouldn't be a problem at all.

We take our Garmin every trip and have never had an issue.. it goes in the electronics carry on bag with all the other crap we should leave at home cause we are on vacation but can't stand to be away from!!

I agree - no problem bringing a GPS through security.

As far as using it on the flight goes - that varies by airline. Some allow it above 10,000 feet while others never allow it. You'll have to check with your airline about any restrictions.

HAH...a friend and I were talking about this the other day. We wanted to turn it on while in the plane as well to see where we were as well as how fast we were going....
